Playing in a competition at Bearwood Lakes with Paul Nash a couple of years ago, hit a nice drive up 6 and a cracking wedge in to about 10 feet. Had a slightly downhill right to left putt and the greens were like lightning.
Hit what I thought was the perfectly weighted putt about 2 or 3 inches outside the cup. It held it's line and just kept going and going. Ended up about six feet past. I then dollied my next on up and missed the tiddler that it left. That will be a 6 for nothing then.
How my playing partner laughed.
Golfers in the North East maybe aware of the 8th at Sharpley - home of 4 putt. On more than one occasion I've had a first putt inside 15 feet and a 2nd putt of 40 feet...... perhaps why a 280y par 4 is SI 1!!
