I set my new record for a round today: 5 lost balls, all prov1, meaning a nice £15+ lost in the bushes.

Normally I lose none or one but maybe I should start using cheaper ones...

rarely none
sometimes one
usually two

Very rarely none
Rarely one
Sometimes two
More likely three
Usually four

I'm never going to break 100 losing this many balls. Sometimes I feel like I'm putting a pound coin on the tee peg. I wouldn't dare use a £3 or £4 ball.

I've got a srixon distance ball stuck on the bookshelf as it went 4 rounds without being lost. This is a rarity, very very rare. Can be anywhere from a couple to five or six depending on the day!

normally get 2 rounds per ball then shank it or bash it off the toe oob and lost.

But played a really tough course last year - 15 yard landing zones etc - and lots of wind - managed top loose 9 balls - thats only £20 on top of the £50 green fee.

I lost more balls at St Mellion over the week-end than I have lost in the preceeding 6 months.
With slopes like that, you don't even bother going to look for them.
Good job I loaded up before I went. I must have lost 8 or 9 over the course of 5 rounds.
Most rounds I don't usually have to fire off a provisional.

I wouldn't worry until you stock answer to how'd you go today becomes something along the lines of 5 and 3. This is regardless of whether playing a medal, stableford, bogey or matchplay. The clarification for golfers puzzled in how you could return a result of 5 and 3 in a medal is lost 5 and found 3, good game today.

Btw slightly o/t, but I often think you can often tell the quality of course by the golf balls you find there.

I've only been round my course once in 3 months and not lost a ball. Last round i got to the 18th tee and lost 2 after a loss free round.

Average about 1, sometimes 2. Especially when the fairways and greens are hard. It's certainly got me out of the habit of using a good un...

Sunningdale must be a Goat-track then. All I found when I played there was 2 TopFlites and a Molitor... :D

Welcome to Bogside Grant :D :D

Everybody always has a provisional ball in their pocket in medals lol.

I'm on a decent run at the moment and managing to keep the same ball all the way round. Usually I lose one per round although the other month I lost 4 in nine holes and then went out and played great the next day - go figure :D

Exception that proves the rule?

Cripes, you'd have though have thought if you could afford the green fees, you could afford prov's. If people are using them there maybe they need some new forward tees to play off, or less rough.

In my last round lost one main ball and three or four provisionals !!! Normally a couple a round though. As granters already mentioned difficult to get round without losing one at our place.
The positive is you almost always find some when looking.

I lost 9 the other week!!! What a nightmare. I can usually get around with 2 sleves and normally have a couple of fresh balls left. It almost cost me more in balls than it did in green fees :(
