How does your tee sheet work at the weekend?

We only have a tee sheet on a Sunday morning 08.00 - 09.30, it's in the pro shop the Sunday before and you put your name down, if there is a competition your supposed to play in it and pay the entry when putting your name down. It's worked very well for years and I hope it isn't 'improved' by going on line

Do you have to wait for a game? Or you simply show up and get on?

I guess it differs what a club can do depending on the demand.

Show up and go on - or join the queue (usually minimal) - or join the roll-up if it's roll-up turn-up time. Basically the membership did not like the idea of losing being able to decide to turn up and play - even if that meant a wait. So booking was scrapped after the pilot. They felt that being able to do so - and that that leads to members mixing - was part of what makes the club what it is - as others have also said about their place.

I was one of the first managers to start an electronic [card] booking system in the 1990's.
It worked very well as we were dealing with massive 4.00am queues.

Out of interest
How do clubs with an on line system deal with no shows.
Are there many gaps, eg, can you often walk onto the first tee ahead of your booked time?
