• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

How does your tee sheet work at the weekend?

Same as us. Tee times at weekends comps only. We did a trial/pilot over last summer of tee booking for casual play Sat and Sun mornings - in October the membership voted against continuing it and so back to a ball chute.

Do you have to wait for a game? Or you simply show up and get on?

I guess it differs what a club can do depending on the demand.

We only have a tee sheet for our Saturday comp, the rest of the time it is turn up and play. The comp sheet goes up at 5pm on the Saturday before.

What's a Tee Sheet ☺

Other than for Competitions, it's a case of turn up and play away. If it's busy, it's "ball in the chute"

Just pitch up and play if there's no course closure for a comp

Comp entry sheet opens in the Pro shop 2 weeks before.

We book online ten days before the actual date. Because of the time settings, the bookings open at 11.00pm and it goes crazy especially for saturday medals. If you are even a few minutes late in logging on you might be too late and not get a tee time! :(

Bookings opening at a certain time takes me back many a year. Same system was used by the local leisure centre. At that time I worked in the telephone exchange and some engineers used to block all the lines to the leisure centre just before hand and then spot on the time make the call to be first to book the badminton courts.

:D

At a former club, the tee sheets were available from 7.30 (when the clubhouse opened) and the issue was, people would arrive early, sit in their cars and then queue, and then booked their time and their mates times as well (not suppose to happen but never policed). Usually fully booked by 9.00 and the same faces got the same time every week. As you can imagine, hardly encompassing for new members. Was delighted to join my current club and not have to worry about any booking

We also book online using the BRS system. You can book one week in advance and the site goes live at 8pm. Except for Saturday competitions, when it goes live at 8pm on the Monday evening before the Saturday. For a Saturday you can only book a single player within the three ball slot, and once you have logged out it goes live again and someone can book the second and third slots.
For all other tee times you book the full slot and add in the names of your playing partners.

This system caused all sorts of aggravation an concerns when it was first introduced a couple of years ago. It was the sole topic of conversation in the lounge before and after games. Thankfully this has now died down.

It was at the opposite end of the spectrum from what used to happen. For any golf on any given day you just turned up and played as soon as the first tee was clear. For Saturday comps you registered in the pro shop and went out in turn.

Turn up & play for everything other than comps which are booked through the Pro, he will help you if you don't have any regular playing partners and will match you up with like minded people, which was pretty tough for him with me :smirk:

I wouldn't stay or join at a club with 100% online booking.

Turn up and play except for comps where you can either book in at the club from 11am or online at 6pm 2 weeks in advance.
I have friends who have to book at their course and people are queuing to book tee times so unless you or a friend can make it on the day to book, you're stuffed. So frustrating.

Ball chute until 10.45am on a Saturday, then the ladies, then bookable tee times.
Ball chute until 9am on a Sunday, then bookable tee times

If comps are on, then it's online booking for your tee time.

Tee times can be booked 3 weeks in advance for members
