How does your club pay competition winnings?

All winnings into Pro Shop credit.
2's is sometimes sleeve of balls or credit as a choice.

Well I've found out that there are no winnings, only the sweep which is paid in bar credit. 2's are in pro shop credit. I'm a bit gutted really, first club I've played at where there is no actual prize money. It's £2 entry plus £1 sweep and £1 2's aswell.

I am a little miffed, i won my first medal on Wed, and i was expecting to see some cash on my card today. But i have just been informed that the medal was called off late afternoon, so no winnings for me.

how could the comp be called off mid comp. and what gave you the idea you had won,i thought that if a certain number had completed 18 holes the result had to stand.

Is it allowed to have winnings paid out in your bar account?

simple answer is yes - following the rule change in 2012; prior to that it wasn't, but club's appeared to do so.

equally it's not permitted to pay prizes in cash and, reading this thread, it appears that some clubs do so........ (obviously excluding sweeps etc) I can see an interpretation of the rules that suggests that as long as the prizes paid out are equal to, or less than, the entry fees and the event is restricted to club members only, they are not actually paying out prizes but that the money represents a sweep amongst friends in the same way as a swindle/roll-up etc. This doesn't represent a judgement on my behalf - just higlighting the various aspects involved

Well i am first on the computer fella. It was called off because of the rain. I don't know the rule on how many completed 18 holes, but it was over 3 quarters.

If you win vouchers or get a two it is credited to your account in the pro shop to be spent only in his shop.

If you win sweep money this can be lifted in cash, or if you do not collect it within a month,I think, then it gets added to your account as above.

The money in your account also has to be spent by the end of each year.

i think you have been done my friend,if my understanding is correct if 3/4 of the field have completed the stated 18 holes the comp should stand or the comp should not have taken place if they thought the course could become unplayable prior to the first tee,i would query this point with your sec. or greens committee member.

It'll be detailed somewhere in your Clubs rules as to how they deal with a comp that gets called off by the weather.

If you put a good score in, possibly heading for a cut, your card should be reviewed as such.

Very helpful DCB, but it didn't mention payment, and whether they pay, or not to pay. On cancelation of a medal 3/4 of the field finished. I will ask the manager on Monday. But the main thing is that my handicap is cut.

Think what they have done is cancel the medal because the course has become unplayable, if that is the case, then it's incomplete and I wouldn't expect any payout. They did have to follow through with the handicap adjustment though and from what you're saying they did that correctly. Afraid this summers weather is going to make this a regular occurrence unless something changes soon. Most courses in the town are struggling to keep playing at the moment.
