How do you like your golf shoes to be???

I've got a pair of Nike classic and a pair of FJs (not sure which model). I have to say the FJs are nice but took a while to break in but the Nike classics were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I have another pair of Nike shoes which were the same. Found the Nikes for £18 a pair just not in my size or I'd have another couple of pairs without a doubt.

But they were the street shoes of the day! Two tone golf shoes hark back to the fashions of the 1920's, Oxford shoes from the 1800's, etc etc

I agree, but they were still leather 'dress' shoes.

Not trainers, not trainer style. Not canvas 'casual' shoes either.

I have no issue with folk who choose to wear the latter, they pay , they can wear what they like with my blessing. They're just not for me.

Ecco street - the 'spikeless' sole gives the best overall grip I have ever experienced on grass, including the old tungsten spikes!

What he said. But not specifically for the grip (to be honest I've never owned a golf shoe and thought, my, these slide around like an ice skate) but just because they are damn comfy. I personally feel that the rest of the guff manufactures come up about how a shoe can improve your game is just that, guff.

I think our illustrious leader MikeH (or Sweet Cheeks as some know him as) has a fairly substantial collection of shoes as well. To be honest I've accumulated these over the years and they are all going strong. When mum and dad were alive they use to give me the cash for new shoes for my birthday each year so I got a pair with them. I had a fair chunk of vouchers in the pro shop as wel from a decent 2012 and as all the clothing is branded with the club badge there wasn't much else to spend the cash on.

You mean that this claim from Mizuno regarding their MP series shoes is guff?:

  • Mizuno Golf IG3 Spikes Further Increase Stability of Golf Shoes, and Spike Direction can be Configured as Part of Fade/Draw Bias Approach
I am shocked and stunned :ooo:

Big fan of puma shoes personally, build quality seems higher than some of the other brands imo and they come in a slightly wider fit which suits me. Just back from the first outing in a brand new pair of Amp cell fusions, pretty sturdy shoe and as comfortable as they come first time of wearing :)

You know, as an avid reader of golf mags so I have seen some bull in my time, I genuinely have no idea if that statement is true or if it's made up. And I hope that says more about the sometimes ridiculous claims golf manufacturers make than my intellect.

Do the rules allow you to change the bias during a competition or like adjustable woods must they remain constant throughout the round?

An interesting question :) I would imagine FCs & PPs would probably keep you in line. Can you imagine telling them to hang on while you alter your spikes as the next hole favours a fade? You would probably look a lonely figure on the course for the rest of the season.

It is actually from the official Mizzy description on those shoes but is clearly cobblers and aimed at the truly desperate.

They are a pretty good looking shoe though.
