This one's open to all. Just interested.

Lessons are great! You get to learn some new stuff, you normally leave with a drill or exercise, sometimes you even get the plain truth. That's plain truth, not plane truth.. :)

So...posture? No pointing trying to build a swing around a spine with more curves than jessica rabbit on steroids.

I've been reading around just to solidify my thoughts on this, but I'm struggling with a few of the ideas out there.

Any top tips or foolproof methods? :)

Ta.

This is a very interesting point and will vary from build to build

Text book is not that common especially for some older golfers who have a few extra pounds

Well I know what I do. But if its right or wrong I don't know. I stand up straight to the ball. Then keeping back straight I sort of go down as if I am about to sit in a chair. Hope that makes sense? Works for me.

I'm not fat I'm big boned!!

Oh no wait a minute, yep I'm fat.

I've been told by our pro I have a good posture and great movement for someone my size! I am thick set but carry a bit of a gut too. I do try to keep supple with regular rotation exercises.

I watched Justin Rose on Sky once and it had a great shot of his posture, so now I think "Justin Rose" when on the tee to remind me of straight back and to keep my chin up to allow shoulders to come through. Unfortunately it is mainly thought at the moment.

I'd say lessons can help with posture to a degree, but Pilates and Yoga can correct/improve your posture. Which you can then translate into a more stable core for golf.

But if can't help everyone, obviously.

I'm sure you're right.

I reckon there's only so far someone like me could go with improving my posture generally, I'd just like to stand/set myself better for my golf swing and understand "how" to get there. It's the "how" that is causing me trouble.

You need to understand why your posture is 'incorrect' in the first place.

For me it's rooted in a combination of my height and sitting at a desk all day.

I would say that anyone without a specific medical hindrance can achieve something very close to an ideal posture. But first they would need to identify the cause of their current posture, remediate that cause then work on improving it.

For me, this is the ONE part of my game that comes naturally and have been praised for by the pro I have lessons with.

I wish the rest was as simple!
