I think many people grossly over estimate their ability to stick it close from this sort of range, particularly mid/high handicappers.
I don't. The reason its a strong area for me is, as a higher handicapper, and especially in my first season at my club last year, I rarely hit many greens in regulation and as such was short by this distance the majority of times. This actually then becomes an everyday and every hole shot and one that has to become accurate (as can be) to have the opportunity of single puts to pull the other shots used up, back.
My initial weaknesses as a higher handicapper were off the tee so it was the short game that kept me in the mix. Now with the tee shots under a lot more control, the 2 are coming together nicely.
