hopes and dreams for the season ahead?

Been through a lot of swing changes over the last twelve months hard work is now begining to tell.
It's been frustrating as i felt i've been going backwards at times as you do.

Went from single figures only just though 9 back up to 10 creeped up to 10.2 where I am at the moment.

Only been playing fifteen hole comps in the winter but been scoring 30points consistantly and on sat got 35 and felt disapointed. so i want to get back to where i was before at least.

I would love to get in to contention during some of my society comps. A good 40 points usually wins, which means a score in the region of 9 over gross (Low 80s).
I think that I would do well to be hitting the ball solid, and not 3 putting.
Good luck for the year ahead everyone

My goals for this season are to play more than last year, get to single figures from 11.5, and improve my consistency, particularly driving. I can cope with missing a green, not quite catching something etc but want to eliminate the shots that end up 2 fairways away or 3 feet in front of you (not including 3 foot putts).

This will be my first full season, looking to join a club close to me soon. I play off around 24 at the moment. My goal last year was to break 100 which I achieved :-) I promised myself some new clubs if I did so with them in tow along with some new found confidence Im looking to break 90 and get a handicap down into the mid teens. To do this I know I need to improve my 'off the tee shots' along with my putting and looking forward to it.

I've got my eye on the club champs and hope to go one better than last year (lost on countback both gross and nett).

That's a tough pill to swallow - surprised any club would allow the Club Champ to be decided on countback. Surely some kind of playoff was in order?

I was 2nd gross and tied 1st nett in our CC's last year. Had had an 18 hole strokeplay play off to decide it....I lost :( . Still, got a voucher for 2nd in gross :D

I have been back to the game a full 12 months now and have only been playing once a week at a course I didn't really like. I have now moved to a new better course and intend to play more, 4 sundays and 2 sats per month and in the summer 2 rounds in the evening. I want to see my handicap come down and try and improve on the 4 wins I had last season. I would like to try harder to become integrated into my new club faster. Oh and win the masters when I get my invite.

I'd like there to be world peace, and where little children no longer have to suffer. I'd like third world debt to be written off and a cure found for aids. I'd also like a contract with Olay ...........................

All done in my worst American Miss World voice. ;)
What are you wearing for the swim suit round Hapless?

Having just joined a club my first goals are to get a h/c and get to know as many of the other members as possible. Other than that i guess just try to have fun and improve as much as possible as this will be my first year in golf.

It was a little disappointing tbh , I finished the round and asked the pro when the play-off would be and he laughed. We dont do that he said , too much hassle. Then he told me about the nett loss on c/b just to rub it in :(

My own fault really cos I was just off the edge of the 18th in 2 (par 5) and couldnt up and down it. I tripled it the first round as well

Just looking at getting down to 15 this season, I also wouldn't mind retaining my Rabbits Champion status as well. Just started working on staying positive and driving with smooooooooth in it ;)

I will be trying to get to and consolidate single figures this year.

Got sooooo close over the last couple of years but always start to chase a cut once I get close, was only one good round away at one point last year and then went crazy chasing a cut in the last 10 medals only to go up .1 in them all. :o

This year I plan to be more relaxed when playing in medals and just take whatever score comes along.

No more beating myself up when I go up .1, even if a cut looked more likely as this happened far too often last year.

To play more than I have over the last 18 months or so. Because of injury, work and the the Great British weather, I'm not getting out as much as I'd like. Then hopefully I can get the handicap down from 12.1 to 10.4.

Not 9.4?

9.4 would be nice, but to be honest considering the amount I've been playing I think 10.4 would be a more realistic goal.

Yeah your right Bob,I start protecting a good score around that point and promptly make an ass of it from there in. :D

I think getting a reliable game from 120 yards in would certainly take a lot of pressure off my longer game and given the fact that I'm at rock bottom with my chipping (not even a v-easy can save it now) then there is only one way to go. I'm getting pretty hacked off that my driving is improving (hoorah) and I'm now standing on some of the longer holes with a 5-6 iron in hand and still managing to miss the target more often than not.

According to SS2 I'm hitting a paltry 14% of GIR's this year which I think tells its own story.

H/cap stuttered around 9.6 and finished with 9.8 playing off 10.my goal,is to get single figures at the end of the season, also to qualify for our Captains Prize, ie.top 10 first comp, top 10, 2nd comp, top 10 3rd comp, plus the Captain, plus last years Champ. total of 32 match play 1 v 1 format. love it,Forummers.May i wish you all, good luck for the forthcoming season, and looking forward to meeting you at some of the days out :)

HOMER i have not looked at your rate my golf score on a previous post[for the mental side]or the playing side either, however i have read a lot of your posts and i cant believe how negative you are about your golf in peticular, you must be a good player to have the handicap 11.3.You also have regular lessons[why]they wont help you because your so negative, short fix they probably do,long term i doubt it.14% from 120 yrds is rediculously low for an 11 handicapper.Maybe next time you spend your hard earned cash on a lesson ask him about PMA it works.
