hopes and dreams for the season ahead?

The point on all this before we draw a very big line in the sand and move on is that I do enjoy my golf. I enjoy the work I put in at the range and in particular I'm enjoying seeing the progression my lessons are having. Having gone from a swing that was too fast, too long and technically poor to something approaching repeatable is a source of great personal satisfaction. I love playing and do so at every opportunity (nearly 100 rounds per year) and love to meet new friends and the banter with regular buddies.

What I do mind are day like yesterday where I actually struck the ball very well in a competitive environent with a swing I don't trust 100% yet but where I don't score. I missed almost every green and where my short game use to be trusty enough to give me the odd up and down it was the main source of frustration yesterday. If truth be told it has been off for a while and is one aspect of my game I've ignored while working on the swing changes.

Maybe there are subliminal messages from the blog but the bottom line is my game is not 100% and there are a few aspects that need urgent work. HOWEVER, there are huge improvements taking place and a much more solid swing taking shape. It's a very solid foundation to build upon and meet the goals I've spoken about in the blog and on here. Of course I get frustrated and maybe I am overly critical but that has more to do with the drive to get as good as I was (highly unlikely but we all have dreams) or certainly as good as I can. At the end of the day I'm happy doing it my way.

Let me make one other thing perfectly clear before ending the subject

"it seems to me you have an answer to everyone elses problems but cant seem to sort out your own.By the way someone else agreed with me"

I have never claimed to have any of the answers and only offer an opinion based on a large number of years playing the game (to a reasonable standard at one time) and my experiences. Also, just because somebody agrees with a point it doesn't make it correct by proxy.

Anyway, I've said my piece and explained where I'm coming from. Its Biffa's thread and I've interloped enough on it. Enough about me and time to move on

Looking for consistantly good performances which should lead to a handicap cut--aim is to get to 12 by year end.

Would also like to be on the first club team to win an inter club pennant.

Begining the year on 9.6 I would like to get well enough into single figures so that if I do have a bad day I'm not going back up to 10!
So somewhere in the 8. somethings will do - I'm not greedy. I've been as low as 8.1 in the past so it would be really good to get back there.
I need to get my iron-play more accurate. I can hit quite a few greens but often I'm 25+ feet away from the flag and I'm not going to drop too many from that range. So getting nearer to 10 ft with approaches is a big aim.

To stop working weekends and actually spend some time on the course.

Im hoping to re-join a club this year and try to get back to 13 that I was a few years ago.

I would like to try and shoot good scores consistently but probably above all enjoy my golf more i mean i have had good scores over the last 2 years but put a wee bit of pressure on myself to get them and i want to rule that oot and just enjoy it.

To knock half a dozen shots off handicap - to about 14 - by being a damn sight more consistent. I know I can match almost anyone on any one particular hole - but it's doing it over 18 that matters. (eg this weekend scored 29 points off 11 holes - and blobbed the other seven. If that isn't inconsistency, then I don't know what is)

and thats why we are amateurs!

to get down to the teens, handicap as well as mentally.
to do that, sort out the putting - lesson booked for Friday,
and avoid those two or three really disasterous holes each round.
