Holidays 2025

My wife and her sister went to Bergamo a couple of years ago and loved it. Not between Christmas and New Year but it was in December still.

Prague would be a pretty solid choice as well.

Any suggestions for a new years city break. Planning on flying 27th-2nd or 28th-3rd. Ideally few nice bars, some stuff to do during the days with enough to do on NYE.

Did Rome last year which we loved, was looking at Barcelona however not hearing good things about there at present due to cultural frictions.

Currently Athens seems a good contender, potentially northern Italy also.
I went to Lisbon a few years back, cracking square with loads of bars and restaurants, only a couple of hours flight.

No idea of weather at that time of year

Couple of nice courses if you get a chance

How was Rome at that time of year. We’re looking at booking it for the same time period this year.

I would deffo have a look at Berlin.

We did it a few years back and loved it. For the length of time you are going. There are plent y of places to see. We caught a train down to Potsdam and then a hop on hop off bus. It was very good. But it was bloody cold so wrap up.
For New Year’s Eve we went to the Brandenburg gate for the massive massive party. David Hasselhoff, Katherine Jenkins and communards were on the stage. The fireworks were probably the best I have seen.

We also enjoyed Amsterdam, we actually stayed at this place.

It is outside of Amsterdam, and our problem was at 10 pm, all the pubs shut so families could spend time together. Not sure if the same happens in Amsterdam itself. Loved Amsterdam, but not sure I could spend a long time there. Again it was cold.

Don’t matter where I have been for New Year’s Eve, Edinburgh, Derbyshire cottage, Manchester, Cardiff. It has been wet and flippin cold. To that end I have now said to Missis Tash. We go somewhere warmer for new year.
This year we are going to Tunisia for a week. 5 star all inclusive for £760 for two folk. 👍

Following on from Tashy's post regarding Berlin, if the cold doesn't bother you then try Munich. Fabulous city, plenty there. But it will be cold 🥶
Went to a pals sisters funeral last week. Making small talk afterwards and he mentioned he is going to Munich this week to watch Chelsea. His wife said he isn’t. he said “ she will find out Monday morning at 2.00 am when am on the bus to London”.
The other night he checked in at a pub in Munich on Facebook. .
I asked has he told the wife about nipping out for some milk yet.
He said “ it didn’t go down well”.😂
I will ask him how is Munich.

Off to Budapest in a week. A delayed, and slightly curtailed trip due to the wife's brother sadly dying.
On another note, we had a big family holiday this year on a caravan site in Britannia. Everyone was up for going again next year, but the prices!!!!!!!!!!! Big jump up even with an early booking discount. Bluddy school holidays😡

I’m not an envious person but hope the 2 posters above catch COVID in the next 2-3 weeks 😂.

Only joking gents have a ball!!

Wifey goes to Turkey on Sunday for a week with family and I go to Spain in three weeks for a week of golf with my mate.

Like a divorce without losing all your money 😁

Just got back from 10 days in Dubrovnik. Stayed about 45 minutes walk form the Old Town in Lapad, lovely peninsula with cracking sea views. Strip just outside the hotel with lots of bars and restaurants and a promenade with more bars and restaurants along the sea edge to watch the sunsets. No sandy beaches but the locals love sea swimming and all along the peninsula their were steps down to the rocks and concrete had been poured to flatten out some of the rocky areas. They then had areas roped off for swimming and steps into the sea. Some of the rocky areas looked really uncomfy but the locals just put a towel down and lay down.

Disneyland Paris in October half term...anyone want to swap?
We had 4 days here a couple of years ago, first 3 days were absolutely brilliant, not to busy and got on all the rides no problem.
Then the English and French schools broke up for the holidays and all hell broke loose 😂 😂

We went 2 years back, I asked the kids what their favourite part was, "the Five Guys we had one night."
