Holidays 2021

Golf trip that was cancelled in May rolled over to May 2021. Desperately hoping that will go ahead. Otherwise I won’t book anything until there is more certainty. We last went on holiday in late 2018, 2 years ago this week after missing 2019 for a house move, so desperate to get away. But sitting on a plane in a mask, worrying about the risk and probable restrictions when actually away and quarantine upon return isn’t a holiday to me.

Too much uncertainty for me to book anything now - especially in Europe.

But I've just started looking at Thailand, after I discovered they have only had 4,000 cases of COVID and 60 deaths since the pandemic began, even though it was the first country outside China to record a case.

We did a three centre holiday in Thailand, if you go to Chang Mai. Take your clubs ??

Tashyboy royally screwed up when I went to Thailand. The plan was I was going golfing when me pal was going diving when we got to Ao nang/Krabi. It is a fantastic location for Diving but rammel for golf. Our first destination was Chang Mai. It’s oop North in the jungle and lovely and cool. We got to the hotel and the reception is rammed with golf bags. I asked the reception if there’s any courses nearby and he gave me that look Ave seen many times, along the lines of are you thick. Chang Mai is a lovely place for culture, food and golf. Normally I would say 2 outta 3 is not bad, but in this instance I was bogged off.

Still have the option of Croatia in May, held over from last year. It's just not going to happen. No way am I getting on a plane any time soon.

Nothing booked. But didn't enjoy the flight back from Scotland from the Machrie trip. So it will more then likely be only UK and no flying.

I'm ok with this after being out of the country for 15 months (returned Feb '20) with only the odd weekend at home.

Went to Thailand with a mate and we had a great time. So good that there are some significant gaps in our memory :ROFLMAO: We're both married with kids now so will never have another holiday like that.

Chiang Mai, Krabbi, Phuket, Koh Samui, then a few days in Bangkok to finish.

Skye and Inverness in May; St Ives in June; Seattle and British Columbia in September/October.. Maybe also Tiree & Islay in July/August

Well that's our stake-in-the-ground plan...but who knows.

I just transfered 100 quid to a bank account I have in sunnier climes, feels like a nice bit of positivity that I'll have some "free" cash there to spend when we eventually get to holiday again.

Or I've just lost 100 quid ?

If the bank account is in a foreign currency it is likely to appreciate v sterling. I can't see us coming out well from Brexit and COVID
