Holiday rant!

HID and I had a lovely week in Suffolk last week staying in a National Trust property. We travelled from, and back to Kent and the journeys were great EXCEPT for those thieving gits of a government who never took the tolls away from the Dartford crossing and subsequently sold the rights to a private company!

There were no hold ups at all on either way, except the 1 hour 10 minutes going and the 55 minutes coming back to give them £2 each time. How much time is wasted for businesses, how much fuel is wasted, and why didn't they scrap the toll as was promised when the project was agreed and it was finally paid for?

Last time we went over a couple of the booths were shut... Took just shy of 85mins...

And its run by a private company ? You would have thought they would be quicker to get more cars through to maximise profit - im guessing its a hard crossing to avoid.

Me and the mrs once tried to guess how much they make in an average day. It's ridiculous.

Vote SNP..........no tolls in Scotland.
They worked out that it cost more money to collect the tolls than administer them years ago.
Same with prescription charges.

With a 120,000+ crossings a day that's a lot of pences to pass up...

I understand that they are doing away with the booths soon and you are to pay online in the same way as the London congestion charge and controlled by ANPR

If it takes 85 minutes now manually, can you imagine the havoc with them and a computer system. Good luck to anyone making that journey in the future

That may be so... But, if they had honoured their word there shouldn't now be any charges...

Basically means driving via the outskirts of London! Unfortunately, the bridge closes quite frequently with weather issues and so tunnel is used for travel both ways causes a major ball ache!

Tell me about it use to do the trip though them 2 or 3 times a week. Never waited that long though 10/15 mins max. Don't do it anymore thank goodness.
