hmmmm to join a club or not too join...

i found the bedfordshire in stagsden to be quite a nice course, nice facilities.. think that is under 1k

Brutal in wind

If going that far would certainly recommend Beds and County , South Beds is ok

south beds was an option Phil but too many blind shots and not keen on it overall.

Had a bit of a result as Aston is 700 odd but best of all theres a grass practice area at the end of the range, I was striping it off the turf even with my 4iron :p

I wish I could afford letchworth although I know a couple of the blokes there and they are knobs lol. Not in any major rush but as a nomad I am just not putting enough course time in the bank.

South Beds wouldnt be my choice, nice enough facilities but like you found too many blind shots there. Does have the additional 9 hole course too though.

If you want a hit Steve give us a shout and we'll sort something out

I'll join you as well guys - played South Beds yesterday - it's an ok track , very hard ground at the moment ( went round one over ) and greens were rock solid.

How far is Saffron ? That's a nice course

A bit too far Phil. Even JoG is a tad further than I want (if I could afford it).

Aston might well be the choice but in no rush. Enquired about my old club but it might go under next year is the rumours.

Whitehills near hanbury manor is a fair enough course with an excellent introductory price of £500 for 7 day 1st years subs with good facilities.

Think it's been mentioned but what about Chesfield Downs ?

Mill green is not to bad either. I'll probably do one more year at beadlow then join letchworth

alright for some Paddy

Not sure whitehills still has the offer on. My mate from old job joined on that deal but cant get hold of him. plenty of options under a grand though which is reassuring

You could join a club up here..... Royal Dornoch and Nairn and still have change from your 1K;)

Aaah , scotland , too much bad weather , only nice for 3 months tops so your green fees is for a few months not like down south where its for the whole year near enough ........................EYG

I have checked out others locally say 20 mile radius and tbh some of the prices are bordering on extortion!

Any gems around herts/beds/N essex I should check out with decent practice facilities, not corporate mad and at the same time reasonably priced?

anything over 1k a year to me is overpriced! (unless its RickG's gaff as you get the course and celeb factor lol)

Gibbo

Unfortunately the fact that you feel over £1000.00 is overpriced does not reflect local market forces. Private members clubs in this area will be circa £12-1500.00 per year for full 7 day membership.

Have you seen the deal that Crown Golf do where you buy points? It only seems to work if you play outside peak hours but it might be worth you looking.

wrong, Ive played every week apart from 2 years ago when we had some snow one Sat, plus Nairn is one of the driest places in the UK, so when you lot down there were complaining about wet weather and courses closed it was dry here;)

it might not get as hot and humid as rural Hertfordshire, but that's a good thing.

We have had fantastic weather up here, only rained a couple of times during the day in the last 6 months and we have had temps in the 20's since April

Nice, I am thinking of heading up to St Andrews on the Sunday for a look round.

The old course is closed on a Sunday so the locals can hang their washing out;), so you can walk around the whole course if you like.

Thats what I had heard. I might see if I can get a game at one of the other local courses while I am there too.
