Playing with Imurg the other day, it started pelting down, so up goes the brolly attached to my trolley.

On taking my second shot on the par 5 13th, I parked the trolley a tad too close and hit the open umbrella on the follow through, IE after the ball had been hit

Imurg hit me with a 2 shot penalty and he may well be right, just like to see where it says so

You've been conned again - the penalty applies only if the ball strikes your equipment.

P.S.

He's an even bigger con artist. Even if he had been correct in applying the same penalty as if the ball had struck your equipment, he would have conned you out of an extra shot as it's only one penalty stroke.

Not unhappy....

Surprised though. as I thought this was a penalty - and I did say at the time I wasn't sure of 1 or 2 shots....

So - mistake admitted..........you learn something every day.

What rule did you think applied?

What rule did you think applied?

Err...

A rule whereby you can't hit your own bag, brolly or anything else...don't ask me which rule number it is as I couldn't tell you if my life depended on it.
It's probably another myth that was passed on to me years ago - let's face it, this doesn't happen often...

How could you hit a dirty great big brolley ? Have you tried leaving your trolley the other side side of your ball, rather than behind your back ? In my book you deserve a penalty !!

Who said his brolly was dirty? The rain would have washed it clean.

Yeah good point, it was belting down at the time, and just parked it too close. I accepted it as it sounded like the sort of thing you might pick up a penalty for, and it was said with a certain amount of authority, and he is a much more experienced and better golfer than I will ever be , so I assumed he was right

Genuine mistake, now we all know :)
Cheers guys
