Difficult year for me. Just looking back at the list of goals I set myself at the start of the year (thinking that life would get back to normal) and I’ve got nothing ticked off. I’ve had a lot of health setbacks and difficulties this year to overcome but I’m not one to look for sympathy as I know I’ve had it easy compared to many less fortunate. My highlight of 2021 is really just a sense that I’ll never feel as confined as this ever again. 2022 will hopefully bring a lot more freedom and adventure.

The first time I had it done the doctor said to me that he was going to insert the finger and that it wasnt totally unusual to get a little, shall we say, excited. I said there was no way that a finger up the trap door would get me excited , he replied that he was referring to himself not me ??

I had mine done. Just crept into the at risk age range, and a fella at the golf club has had his removed as with Billy. I can categorically say, it was one of the least ‘exciting’ experiences of my life. Fortunately I had a clean bill of health

It's been a funny old year for me, having been made redundant at the end of 2020 from the job I'd held for 30 years.
I wasn't sure what to do next and a few wrong turns which didn't work out for many reasons (on-call firefighter, police call handler, mobile ice-cream scooper...) I briefly tried retirement which definitely wasn't for me (yet). In September I think I found my niche as I trained to be a primary school cycling instructor. Ask me again after working through a British winter though!!
Other highlights were getting an allotment and a peloton bike - gonna be busy in 2022

I must say that I read Fragger's comment with some incredulity. Looking objectively at the replies to Weewullies question, I couldn't see any belittling there. Frsgger says it is factually correct, as if it should have been more, and that it wasn't more deliberately so as to belittle?
Unless there is history involving the personalities here , of which I'm unaware, I do think Fragger is somewhat unfair to criticise.
It seems today that writing or saying things accurately, or literally, is not enough. You have to imagine what someone may speculate what you really mean, a talent which appears to be an attribute especially of political journos
For clarity, I wouldn't want to have Homer's job for all the money in China.
It must be as stressful as hell. My job occasionally entailed dealing with the newly bereaved, but to have to do it as often as Homer has had to in this pandemic , and in those circumstances, must be awful. And then to have his illness himself, he has had a real crap year .
But I don't think for a moment that there was an intent in Phil or JamesR 's
replies to a query, other than giving a straightforward answer.

With all due respect, you joined 3 years ago so you will be blissfully unaware of the long history between LP and HJS.
In 2015 they were both put on a posting limit of 20 a day which still stands today after both receiving multiple infractions and bans and instructed to ignore each other.
The question related to HJS and “Frontline NHS care” the answer “Believe he is one of the hospital administration staff on one of the wards ?” Is fine if you have a passing knowledge of the person involved, however LP and HJS follow each other’s posts intimately, He knows full well that he is admin manager on ITU but did not post that, so why bother posting it unless the intention was point scoring.
I don’t need to even monitor the daily limit as if one goes over, the other will pm me.

I have “ignored” Homer for years , I can’t recall ever contacting you about Homer going above 20 posts - I have better things to do , I don’t converse with him and most of his posts I don’t read.
As far I am aware he works in a hospital as an admin - I made no slight on the role nor have I ever done in the past , I worked in roles where many people work together to make things work regardless of what role they do , I haven’t once commented on his mental health or demeaned what he does as a job.
You have made assumptions based on who the poster is as opposed what was posted - playing the poster is a common theme on here and that was a perfect example.
The thread went downhill after a reaction based on passed history and someone making an assumption and jumped to conclusions
I don’t converse with Homer and haven’t done for close to 6 years because of the affect it had on the forum and it will continue that way

2021 has effectively been a non event for me (which to be fair....given what has gone on around "me"...in many respects I'm quite happy with)...I've largely kept my head down, worked from home the entire year (this March will see 2yrs continuous WFH...I think I've been into the office twice....once to clear my desk and once to have my laptop replaced) and got out on the golf course when I can.
Until Xmas eve, when my 20yo daughter tested positive and we had to cancel all of our relatives who were coming to stay for the festive period, my family has largely been unaffected by C-19...for which I'm thankful.
A personal highlight perhaps (seems mundane with everything that is happening in the world) was my trip up to Scotland in July to play in the Moray Open. I lived in Lossiemouth from '73-78 and it was where I first picked up a golf club and had lessons...even though I never actually started playing the game until '95 when I was in my late 20's. Once I'd taken up the game it was perhaps the one single item on my bucket list, to go back and play the course in the place where any seeds of interest in the game of golf were originally sown. Thoroughly enjoyed my week there and have entered again for next year.

Tomorrow will be the biggest highlight for me when we can put another dreadful year behind us and hope for a brighter future.
Lost some very close friends and suffered health issues close to home.
New outlook for 2022, leaving a lot of troubles behind and trying the more positive thinking after reading a couple of books.
Biggest positive of 2022 was getting the Pup, brought so much pleasure and innocence in to my life. A massive shining light in a very dark year.

Hope very much that you ( and we all) have a much better 2022.
We too have got a puppy, now 12 weeks old. It's our first puppy.
Yes, pleasure and innocence, but, oh, how you need eyes in back of head etc?.And those teeth!
Training is somewhat of a learning curve, but I'm glad we got him.
Early this year we lost our beloved Border terrier, and my wife has been down , what, with that and Covid. She's now a lot better , giving so much (and receiving ) to this little fella.
