Apparently, I have extremely weak ankle joints.

Anyway, I've just twisted my left foot badly again and have - at the very least - a nasty ligament strain.

So does anyone know of any golf shoes that are higher - like basketball or hiking boots - than normal golf shoes and can give my feet a little more support? Or does anyone have another, better idea ?

Think Skechers have higher support and there are also multiple winter boots as well

They're amazing! Why do i feel like i need a pair of those for no other reason than just BECAUSE :ROFLMAO:
My god they're all horrific looking and the ankle support looks terrible in all of them.

A quick look and these look a lot better, decent ankle lock support and cushion around the achilles
Stubert Evolve boot

Just to clarify: I am *not* looking for winter boots, but rather “normal” golf shoes, however with a high shaft to support my ankles! 🤷🏽

Unless you go for boots, which are primarily winter boots, then I'm not sure if you will have much option if you want them to support your ankle in any discernible way.

I would look at addressing the root cause of the problem - why are your ankles prone to rolling? If it's a strength or gait issue, better to address that and fix it, rather than rely on external support which may actually just be masking the problem but making it worse in the long term. This is assuming you haven't already done that and reached the point where there is no intervention possible.

Likeliness off getting something like that in a golf shoe is going to be very slim. You’re effectively wanting what’s described as a mid top trainer. Very few even trainer brands do them these days with exception of Vans, Converse, maybe the odd Nike and Puma.

But in a golf shoe that’s slim choice. If your ankle is that bad then a hit top boot with ankle support will help. But would be better off with a physio surely working on the biomechanics of the ankle and getting proper recommended footwear.

Many years ago I snapped an ankle ligament. I lost count the amount of times I went over on my ankle. It was pure agony til the adrenaline kicked in. I ended up having a modified Bostrum repair.
The last thing I needed was a higher shoe, or heel. It seemed to make my left ankle more unstable. Walking on the fairway was ok, but in the rough. It felt like I was walking in a minefield waiting to fall over.
I am not to sure any shoe would offer support, maybe a boot. But a specialised ankle support may well be better.
I am assuming that with you saying “ apparently I have extreme weak ankles”, you have already been assessed. Physio may be the way forward re trying to strengthen the ankles.
Good luck with it.

Oddly enough I just found this from golf monthly

To be honest, I don't think physical therapy will help much anymore. I've twisted my ankle too many times, and my ankle joints are probably pretty worn out. My orthopedist never thought surgery would be a good idea. So, from my layman's perspective (however, I'll check with my orthopedist!), the only option is to support my ankle joints.

The aforementioned orthosis does this perfectly, however it's so bulky that it stretches out any shoe so much that it no longer fits without the orthosis.

Rubber stockings don't provide enough support, and tape has to be wrapped correctly and evenly, which I have zero experience with. And it takes time...! The orthosis is much quicker.

That's why I came up with the idea of high golf shoes!

However, I'll definitely talk to my orthopedist again and then see what happens!

Thanks for your input! (y)

One thing I never mentioned when I was going through my ankle troubles. It was suggested to “ fuse” the ankle. Even my boss suggested it so I could go back to work 4 weeks earlier. I never gave it a second’s consideration.
