Evening all.
I had the privelage of playing with a fellow forummer today and some of his friends, and my dad.Richart was the forummer.A great bunch of guys and a pleasure to be in there company. When we got to the course there was a sign hedgehogs only.Ok for me as i live close by,but my dad and 3 of Richarts friends had to pay £3.50 each for a trolley[nothing on the website]Also when we went to pay they would not except our two for one vouchers even though they are a course that excepts these vouchers. We were charged full price as discount was only available if you booked online a week in advance, not the one month that Richart booked in advance,in my mind total baloney. As for using hedgehogs we all agreed a total waste of space and just a money making escuse, your thoughts.

So booking well in advance is frowned upon?? I wouldnt have played there and would have went elsewhere.
As for hedgehogs, did you all have broken backs? ;)

Very disappointing and very strange that you can book a month in advance but only get the discount if you book a week ahead of time. I'd take that up with the club.

On the hedgehog side, I can understand the club insisting on them given the recent heavy rainfall although it would be good if they told visitors in advance. That said I doubt our club mentions it anywhere on our website (I'd love to get a chance to run that) and normally the first notification is on the baord by the putting green as you pull into the car park

An email to the club should suffice.

Just include the fact that you regularly attend society days all over your local area and will be glad to tell everyone about the "great service" you received. ;)

Oh and as a point of principle never return unless the golf is free!

Sounds a bit smelly ;)

A letter into the club asking why you were penalised for booking and committing well in advance. Also add some toilet in there about considering it for 2011 membership which is now in jeopardy as you are not happy with what went on, I bet given the current financial climate the club will be only too pleased to look into this.

As for hedgehogs, more clubs are insisting so I'd get yseg to that.

One course to avoid then, and if everyone takes the same stance and tells a mate to avoid it..................

Oh, and in your email of complaint copy in a link to this thread as it will open their eyes!!!!!

I guess it would have been quite tricky to pull off there being 4 of you but them not accepting the 2fore1 discount you were expecting AND requiring an extra £3,50 for the hedgehogs I'd have been inclined to cancel my booking, get back in my car and find another course nearby, maybe even asking them for directions!!

Ah, the great 2fore1 voucher scam. It's things like this that are killing off club golf I'm afraid. The only real winner is the guy who owns the company that produces these bits of paper. The clubs get in on the act because they're scared of losing business as it goes elsewhere if they aren't in the scheme.

If you read the small print on these things, there's only one winner and it's not the golfer !

Bummer to have travelled to a course for a round today and been let down by the course not accepting the vouchers, but, did you follow all the stages when making the booking ?

Been in that situation once myself and will never be caught out by the great 2fore1 scam again ;)

I used to like the 2fore1 scheme and often used my free vouchers, never actually bought any! A club near me let you play with the vouchers although not really half price, £34 for a round with voucher £24! Although if booking ahead always mention if you are using the scheme to avoid disappointment! Glad I don't have the Agro any more to be honest!

With regards to 2fore1 vouchers, in the small print it does state you should mention them when booking.

I have never had any problems using them, when booking I advise the club that I'll be using a voucher, last week the club gave me the voucher back to re-use.

Can't comment on hedgehogs as I have never came across this problem.

Charging for hedgehogs is IMHO opinion a joke. If clubs are going to insist on you using them, they should provide them for nothing if you have your own trolley. However, since most clubs do charge, how about buying your own? I did a quick google search and found some for £19.99. That's what I'd do if I had a trolley, I much prefer carrying, especially in the winter when you have to take your trolley round all the lines and ropes just to get anywhere near where you want to be,

Thanks for your input guys, unfortunately we read the small print when we got charged full price, and it did state you had to tell them when booking, which Richart did, however it also does not state you had to book with only a weeks notice. It also would have been hard to walk away from the course without playing as people had travelled a long way.In my opinion this is a lesson learned.

Didn't whoever booked it mention that they were going to use the vouchers?? As there are so many restrictions whilst using them, on the rare occaisions that I've played with one I've always confirmed that it's ok at the time of booking/ enquiring.

The trolley wheel thing seems a bit off though. Hardly a cash generator for them @ £3.50 a pop though so seems a bit silly not to advertise it. Was that mentioned when booked?

Yes it was mentioned that vouchers were going to be used, and hedgehogs were not mentioned at all.
