Hi all, I stopped playing about 3 years ago after becoming disillusioned and very frustrated with the game.

Tonight I payed a visit to the range and hit a ball in anger for the 1st time in about 2 years. I was pleasantly surprised with how well and reasonably straight I hit about 80% of my shots.

A wee bit of history, I took up the game at a very young age and played off 6 by the time I was 15, gave up at about 28 when I got married and the kids came along. Started again about 5 years ago and played off 8, got disillusioned for a number of reasons and stopped playing at the tail end of 2009.

I have been itching to play again for a couple of months, watching the Masters made me realise what I was missing.

So the 1st trip to the range was both a success and very enjoyable, can't wait to get back on the course, looking at a couple of local places with a view to joining, hopefully in the next week or 2. Get my 3 cards and have a handicap back as I'm sure my last one will have elapsed long ago.

Time to start the long process of working on the putting and short game again.......

......bring it on !!!!!!

Welcome back many drift away for a while (me included) but it's always still there ready to reappear again, good luck knocking off the rustiness.

Thanks for the messages guys :)

@ Greginfife - my local courses are Glenrothes, won't be joining as that's where I played before and didn't really like it, Thornton, again wont be joining as its generally too busy and Balbirnie, would like to join but the £350 joining fee is putting me off right now. For this year taking a good look at Elmwood, reason for this is the 'much cheapness' aspect - can join initially for £175 then pay £3 per round or £335 for the year (Apr - Mar), would also have to join the golf society at £45 per year to enable myself to get a handicap, also this can be payed monthly which would also allow me to save up to get the little bits and bobs in place for next season - new bag, shoes etc. Will also be looking to upgrade most of my clubs throughout the rest of this year so for this year cost is probably the main factor.

Quite right, Glenrothes isn't one of my favourite tracks. One of my mates is joining Balbirnie but he never mentioned a joining fee. Heard nothing but good reports on Elmwood for the cost v's quality aspect. I believe that's where they train the greenkeepers.
I'm at Muckhart, so not technically Fife but only 20 min drive. If you ever fancy a game just give me a shout.
