I was lucky to win this years Presidents prize at my club, having not won many comps i am now a little worried about the presentation.
I Know i have to adress the Captain and president before thanking playing partners but do i make a special mention of the president and what do i say ?

I have never been to a Presentation evening before at the moment am not looking forward to this one.

Any advice Please.

Couple of ales and a large scotch beforehand and you'll sail it!

I don't think people are expecting anything other than a basic thank you. No one wants to hear a hole by hole account of the comp or any jokes or anecdotes unless you're known for it and funny.

Relax, it's no big deal.

You could praise the condition of the course (assuming it's good!) and thank the greenkeeping staff for their hard work in preparing it. Just a suggestion.

Remember the old adage--KISS

Keep it simple stupid.

A short speech is all the room expects, once you thank the president, captain and any invited guests its a a simple thanks you to your playing partners and the grenkeeping staff for having the course in good condition.

All good advice. Also dont look at one person when talking, look just above peoples heads, try and get 3 or 4 spots around the room and move your eyes from one to another, and try to speak slowly and clearly.
Dont write a speech out, but take a card with you with the people you would like to thank.......Good luck.

Congratulations on winning the Presidents prize.

You should start by asking everyone to stand, then when the chairs stop scraping say you just wanted to check they were all listening and can sit down now.

You'll have them in your pocket and it won't matter what you say after that.

I find saying something along the lines of..."I found the greens tough.....and the carrots were slightly undercooked too" always goes down a bomb.
