I bought a club that was described as 'in great conditioin, been used but only a couple of times, so its more or less new' they have rated it as grip 9/10 head 9/10 shaft 9/10. and also they charged £12 for parcelforce 48hr.

heres my gripe, they postage cost £5.20, the grip is 5/10 at best. head 7/10 there are some nicks out been used more than a couple and the shaft 7/10.
the club is not as described and the postage is overcharged.
its really the postage im fussed about what should I do. do I suck it up and be happy with a not bad club which I will change the shaft and grip anyway as it was the head I was after which is used but still fine with me. total cost was £29 but should be £22

If you agreed on the post and packing charge before you bought it, there's not a great deal you can do.

I take it post and package charge was listed?

Also remember its postage and packing some people have to source suitable boxes, next is insurance to cover damages

I think £12 for a club is fair even if the cost to the sender is less, you chose to buy it so i thik you are stuck

Condition sounds badly described and you are well within your rights to reject

I always describe my goods as close to truth as possible to put into words and have pictures to back it up

Many people charge over the top for P+P as a means to maximise their profit. If it is stated up front and you agreed to it there really isn't any comeback.

However, the condition of the club is another matter........

ive sent loads of stuff (but not on ebay cos that's breaking the rules:cool:) so have boxes lying about. but me agreeing to £12 postage from parcelforce which I assume is insured and me receiving it bt standard delivery not signed or insured for £5.20 surely says I didn't receive what I thought I bought.

its no big deal but I have to give the person feedback and I think im down £6.80. I basically paid for something I didn't receive. oi was only asking the best way to respond to the seller

I'd mark them down on their postage and description and leave neutral feedback if you're that dis-satisfied.

Sounds like it was poorly described in the listing to me.

If I remember correctly the postage and packaging can also include any costs incurred by going to the post office to send it. I think you have been ripped off a bit though as when I send things on ebay I just pop into my pro shop and knick a box from there.

Regarding the condition though I would raise it with Ebay. Just a few questions you need to ask yourself first though:
Did the listing have any pics showing any damage?
Did the seller tactically take pics so you would not see any damage?
Did they state anywhere in the listing that there was signs of usage?

You need to raise it through Ebay and try to resolve it, some people are very understanding. I purchased my Girlfriend a Ping driver to start the season with from Ebay and it was not in a condition that I was expecting. I raised the issue and the seller gave me a £10 refund which I was more than happy with.

Did you mention you didn't have to sign for the delivery?

Depends on whether you are feeling nice or not. PM me if you are not and the above statement is true. ;)

Was it actually sent by Parcel Force? £12 would be about the correct charge for Parcel Force 48hr. £5.20 sounds like it was sent by Royal Mail (either 2nd Class or old Standard Parcels).

If they didn't use the advertised courier I'd ask for a refund of the difference and start an eBay dispute.

Message them explain you are unhappy about the excessive postage and will be leaving negative feedback about the postage and description, hopefully they'll offer a refund, if not I'm not sure you will get any joy any other way so when you leave feedback mark 1 or 2 in the seller ratings as well as feedback
Comment as this affects there ability to make use of free listing weekends.

no worries, just drop them a message about the fact you are not 100% happy about the condition and the postage was steep. all you can do really unless you want to launch a dispute with ebay.

A seller can charge whatever they want for postage as long as it's stated in the listing. What they can't do is say they are sending it via one service and then send it via another cheaper service. If it bothers you, tell them you want the difference refunded and start a paypal claim if they refuse.

I would also leave honest neutral feedback. That's what feedback is for.

You agreed to postal charges when you bought it. If it was sent by the service promised, you have no grounds for complaint, even if the seller added extra for handling or good luck or whatever. If it was sent by a lower priced service, you should claim the difference, but more importantly, if I bought an item described as 9/10 and it was 5-7/10, I would be looking for a refund unless it was a spectacular bargain price even for the item if described honestly.

This is 100% spot on in my opinion.

Given your comments in the OP, I don't think you have a gripe.

The £12 postage cost should have been factored into your offer price. End of!

I would be more concerned about the condition - though that's pretty subjective anyway - but you've inferred that wasn't a 'priority'.
