Hello. I am new to the Forums, although, have been reading for a couple of weeks. Have recently (10 months) started playing and also moved to north Kent from Lincolnshire.
Looking for a bit of local knowledge, for a club that would be suitable for a begginer. Played at Tydd St Giles nr Wisbech broke 100 on a couple of occasions and can keep the ball fairly straight.

Welcome along to both the game and the forum.

I'm nowhere near Kent so don't have a clue about courses etc I'm afraid! Plenty on here from the South East so you should get a few recommendations.

Welcome. This is easily the best golf forum on the web. You'll soon get to know who the nobs are :D).

Sit back and enjoy the banter. You'll end up learning a fair bit and also becoming a complete gear whore!

Whereabouts in Lincolnshire were you from originally?

Thank you all for the welcome, looking forward to joining in on the boards and the banter.
Moved down from Spalding, as I work near Bluewater and figured 8 years of the M11 is enough for any one.

Welcome to the garden of England! ;)

Within 10km of Rochester, you have:
Upchurch River Valley Golf Club
Deangate Ridge Golf Course
Rochester & Cobham Park Golf Club
but I've not played any of them.

Within 25km, you have:
Austin Lodge - GREAT course. Look for Auburn Warrior, as he's a member there.
Kings Hill - GREAT course, if a little long for a beginner
Redlibetts - was good a few years ago. No idea now though.
West Malling - two good 18 hole courses, fantastic pro shop.
Marriott Tudor Park - nicely laid out course with some interesting holes. Can get very busy.

Enjoy your new golf in North Kent!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I think Auburn Warrior is in North Kent and sure he will help you out. He's a nice chap!

Golfmmad.

Aztec, bit late to avoid the gear whore bit, am already on 3rd set of clubs!!! But only my second ball!!
Bratty, Thanks for the suggestions I have looked at Kings Hill and am hoping to get a round in there tomorrow. Austin Lodge does look very nice, as does Redlibbets. Looked at West Malling and like the idea of choice of courses, will try to get round them all before I finally decide. Also like the looks of Woodlands, were very friendly when I visited took me round for a quick tour in a buggy. may not be the ideal starter course but liked the idea of weekday golf at other courses, and the Pro seemed like someone I would enjoy learning from.

Welcome to the forum. Let the weather get better and then start contacting the clubs and say you are thinking of joining. Some may offer a courtesy round so even if you don't like the course or set up you'll get a freebie game

Redlibbets - was good a few years ago. No idea now though.

Bratty, you knob!! You played it on the 2nd January this year!! :o

Thanks for the kind words people!! :D

Jon, I live in North Kent (Bexleyheath) and you're more than welcome at my place (Redlibbets) anytime. I'd be more than happy to try and sort out a fourball, plus, I am organising a meet in April if you fancy it. Please don't be put off - no-one on here bites (except Leftie but I'll make sure he's had his medication!!) Loads of the guys on here would be able to provide expert guidance, especially Murph but you may not be able to hear him over his strides!! :)

There are some OK tracks around here. I'd avoid Rochester & Cobham though - it's a monster and if you've just taken the game up I'd wait until you're a bit more accomplished. No offense meant, my friend, but a long, hard course like that could do more harm than good.

Again Thank you all for the welcome and the encouragement.
Auburn warrior, Do like the look of Redlibbets and have spoken to them and they have offered a comp round for me and my son so will try and take advantage of that offer tommorow if poss. Love the idea of a four ball and am very fortunate to have lots of flexability at work so can play most anytime except Mondays. If there is space in April would be up for a day out and am prepared to brave teeth and trousers. Had gone off Rochester after speaking to them earlier so thanks for confirming what I was thinking.

Let me know how you get on tomorrow. I think it's a good course and it's in good condition considering the weather we've had of late.

I'll put you down for the April meet. Will it be you and your son or just you??
