Hello from a newbie.

Hey! So the lesson went well; 30-45 minutes; we went through the GASP (grip, alignment, stance, posture).

He was surprised how quickly I was picking it up, so we went onto hitting the balls (apparently it doesnt happen often during first lesson?). And - surprisingly they were going quite straight ... :)
Got 12 more booked - he said we can mostly focus on downswing and putting.

When it comes to clubs - he said 100% steel shafts, as im 6ft1 and a big guy, i wont have a problem with swing/power and i'll get much better control. Regular flex, around 0.5inch longer than regular with 1oF lay (but i think thats the customisation he's talking about).

I'm gonna go for the RSi 1's; just not sure 4/5-PW/SW ?

Should I also already buy a putter and a driver?

Make that your pre shot routine! It's the backbone of mine and I do it on every shot even putting and chipping.

As for clubs a full set of ping g10s, a second hand ping putter and some ping wedges and you cannot go wrong. Spend the rest on clothes, lessons and a decent bag.

G10s have good resale so you can move on when ready but are also great starter clubs.

If you go for the rsi then stick in some hybrids at the top end and a decent 7 wood, you will be off to a flying start.

As for putter and driver, ping all the way, g15, g10 etc all ideal.

Why??

Ah I'll show you what I'm after when a moderator approves my links ;-D

Or well, I can write it out:

5-SW RSi 1
Big Bertha V Series Driver
Daddy Long Legs putter
r15 Rescue 3-4

And some bag + shoes/clothes.

What do you think?

Good question, my answer is I've seen pinf clubs good for three beginners in recent years, two have picked up second hand g10s and done well.

I would go ping myself too, if I could buy a new set, always been impressed by their clubs.

I have just a ping putter at the moment, had it since day one and it got me from beginner to 12 handicap in just 3 seasons.

Any bag buying advice?

Depends on whether you want to carry or if you want to use a trolley ( cart bag). If it is a cart bag, obviously you then have to factor in a trolley which will add to cost.
This time of year a lot of courses get water logged so don't let you use trolleys.
me, this time of year I would get a carry bag which will save your legs around the green anyway. A lot of companies are on line, if you see a bag check online to see if it is cheaper elsewhere.
Good luck me man.
