Heated Gilets

My honest feeling is that if it's cold enough that you need electricity to warm you, stay at home. 😄
You want to try using a buggy every time you play.

If like me you had to have one every time you played your season would probably be mid April to end of September.

I had a few mates who used to laugh at the numbers I had on they soon learnt went they started to have to use a buggy.

Yep, we have an old guy that plays with us on a Sunday that has one and he even has a blanket to put over his legs as he's driving. Feel sorry for him as it was bitter walking yesterday but at least I had mittens on first thing and walking meant the blood was pumping. If that is what you need to play then sadly it's a black and white thing and so accept it and layer up and keep warm or don't play

Baselayer
Polo
Mid layer
Gillet
Outer layer

You are wearing up to 4 collared items here. I do layer up but very rarely wear a golf polo shirt now when layering up. A round neck sports t-shirt works better here.

If its cold enough to layer up as much as this it's unlikely you will need to strip down to the t-shirt / polo level.

Take out that polo collar and add in a snood. Make room in there for that.

Yeah there are some FJ and Adidad tops with the polo neck that are there for the layering
the mid layers I have also have low collars and it’s always a snood when it’s getting cold

I tend to go
Under Armour base layer
Ping or Proquip roll neck jumper
Polo (numerous brands)
Ping mid layer or lined windproof

Only one collar

Yes have played some very early mornings in Florida and on a buggy it’s freezing.

As the cold weather comes I normally go into hibernation but don’t fancy that this year as long as it’s not absolutely stotting it down I’ll be playing on a weekend

I’m not a fan of wearing loads of layers and like the idea of a heated gilet anyone own one? want brand etc does the battery last?

Or I’m open to your suggestions of being warm with minimal layers
Get one. End of.

Any recommendations

I got one off amazon from my dad - just one with the most positive reviews and a decent battery pack.

2 years he's had it, used twice a week minimum throughout winter and he loves it, one of the best gifts I've got for him.

I did this off Amazon £40 ish.
Just make sure it includes the battery some don’t.
Bought for my daughter she’s a teacher.
She puts it on to go on the yard at playtime she loves it.

I've thought about getting one over the last year or two. Almost bought one last year, maybe I'll finally do it this year. I don't mind being hot, but I really don't like being cold the whole round.

At least three of the lads in our fuddle have them and they love them. One of the lads had his “ pack up/ break/ stop working” am sure it was just as cheap to buy a new one than try to repair. I don’t think any of them are Golf branded, which is probably why they were cheap.
Just looked online,Flippin eck they are cheap.

I am angler and whilst i don't own one, heated jackets and gilets are popular in the angling community. My local tackle shop sells out as soon as they get stock in.

However, its a bit different being sat still fishing, than walking and playing golf. I can honestly say I have never felt cold in the body whilst golfing. Walking keeps me warm enough in all conditions if i have suitable layers on. What I have got though, is heated handwarmers as it is your extremities that get cold first.

I don’t know who it was, but a year or 2 ago someone here wrote about being turned away from a course because they opened their rain jacket in the pro shop to get their wallet and the pro saw that he wasn’t wearing a golf top.
