Okay boys and girl,

I was never a lover of winter golf and used to wrap the sticks in a duvet and forget about them until the spring but since stumbling onto this site a year ago I have found myself playing golf in all sorts of weather. I even turned up when the course was closed due to snow.

What I want to know is, has this forum and the GM web site had any influence on you playing golf when you would normally be hibernating?

What has the forum done for YOU?

An unqualified yes!

The forum has frequently allowed me to pose some long harboured questions, forced me to challenge my thinking on many aspects of the game and provided entertainment and connection with likeminded golfers countrywide.

Long may it last

it certainly has, the constant talk of courses, equipment and all things golf have kept that golf bug alive and constantly left me looking forward to my next round with great anticipation.

I firmly believe that I suffer from the lack of sunlight - I was meant to be a beach bum but was born in the wrong climate. the forum has helped me maintain my sanity although those around me may choose to think otherwise.

You don't have to be (golf) mad to like it here - but it certainly helps. :p

Keeps the interest burning, but get a little jealous when everyone else is playing and I am not.

In all seriousness, I really think I would have quit (again) without the forum. It's been a grind, starting playing again, enjoying 3 weeks of good weather and then...whamm...months of depressing weather and untold swing problems and kit confusion.

I thank everyone for making the forum a nice/funny/entertaining place to be.

Cheers, Dave

See previous thread on 'bad patch' for answer to this question!
Also find it great to keep motivated when not getting to the course.

It is simply the only place to be informed, amused and abused about anything golfing (and sometimes just about the world at large).

It has brightened my long winter nights praying for the tees to be on grass and the the green not to be temporary

madandra,

Aye the forum has kept a bit of focus on the golf over the winter. It's given some food for thought on various issues and provided some good entertainment. It will probably slow down a bit as the golfing season is about to kick off (oops sorry wrong sport!) tee off ?. nBut hey we'll all be out on the course then wont we?

I signed up to this forum last spring and did notice a dropping off in both number and quality of posts, but, it is still head and shoulders above the other golf forums I looked at before seeing the light! No other forum has managed to get me to make a complete fool of myself hacking through the trees at Rosemount on a windy February day, so, there has to be something rather special about the forum and the folks who post on here.

Lets keep it up and hopefully I can make that statement again next year.

Andy,
I am not fit for golf at the moment but I look in at this forum every day to keep my interest up and to sharpen my "club whore" instincts.

Andy,
I have enjoyed my time on this forum it has kept me entertained when I have not been playing.
As luck would have it I have managed to play almost every week throughout the winter only missing two weekends due to flooding.
As DCB said previously I too enjoyed meeting up with all you golf addicts like myself at Rosemount.

As a mad keen swiper (not quite an anorak!) I need my fix of golf, be it playing or just talking about it.
The glazed expression on Mrs B's face when I talk golf tells me she just aint interested!

I speak to my "faceless friends" on here and all's well with the world!
Not had the pleasure of meeting anyone......yet but I do feel that when I post a comment on here I'm amongst friends.

I've had many a question answered and enjoyed the banter throughout the bleak winter months. The way the forum has grown I hope it carries on long through the year.

So, a resounding YES from me, the forum certainly has helped me through the winter.

Just noticed I haven't declared the forum as my winter saviour. I have been on here for about a year and in that time have had a few swing faults identified without too much slagging and have gone on to meet John Findlay and then Birdieman, Atticus and the GM guys. And last week I played with 9 guys who were willing to come and lie down just to let me taste victory for the first time in ages. Now that is sporting behaviour, cheers lads.

Seriously, I know more guys on here and respect their opinions MORE than in my last club.

For all your help and patience in reading my pi5h and looking at a fat bloke with no fashion sense,
Thanks

As someone who never plays through the winter, the forum has kept my interest in the game going.

I usually don't get my but out the door and start playing till the end of May and as a result don't really get going till July.

The forum has got me playing (Blairgowrie) and out to the range and ready to hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Have managed to play through most of the winter but the forum has been a benefit in so many ways. Whether it be adice on kit, advice on circumstance or just somewhere to look for a bit of a laugh or an in depth discussion, there is nowhere like this anywhere else on the web.
