Harrington and Bjorn handbags at dawn...

Why would Harrington be a loss? He palys about 80% of his golf on the other side of the Atlantic now anyway. We are doing quite well with some of the exciting young guns comming through, Harrington has acted like a spoiled brat.

As someone said earlier, Harrington will be replaced by another soon enough.

You dont hear Garcia crying to the press or Luke Donald, Els, Goosen etc about having to play one extra tournament on this side of the atlantic.

My opinion is you play one tour, you support it, you want to go chasing the buck then you live within the rules set down by both tours and you have to accept that is that!

Call Paddy what you like, but you are very wrong if you think he is a spoiled brat. If any golfer epitomises the down to earth guy who works hard and takes nothing for granted, it is Paddy.

He was living within the rules, but the Euro Tour has decided to change those rules to force him to make a decision. He sees this is aimed at him and he is responding appropriately. Bjorn is a well known whiner and under achiever, unlike Paddy.

And just who is this next European 3 time major winner? Don't hold your breath.

Well you just answered my question in your response! He thinks its aimed at him! Thats how up his own backside he is then! Goosen, Els, Sergio, are they spitting the dummy???

Next 3 time major winner, cross the border and look at a young may by the name of Rory.

Look mate, I didn't chat to Paddy about this, so I don't know what he thinks, but it is reasonable to assume the rule isn't aimed at some of the others. Paddy is a big draw, and right now, the other European golfers mentioned are not even close. Rory has also talked about taking his PGA card in the next couple of years, so the exact same issue may apply to him too.

You obviously have some issue with him which is colouring your view, but if you don't think he would be a loss to European golf, then I have to wonder whether you really know what you are talking about at all. He is not up his own backside, but you may be.

I have zero interest or issues with a man who has made millions out of the European Tour. A tour which gave him a platform to succeed and a Tour which is safeguarding its future by asking players who are members to make a committment.

Harrington has spat the dummy over it yet can find the time to play in a diddy local Irish club pros event. Paul Lawrie does the same with the Tartan Tour in Scotland but can still fulfill his European Tour committment. Sergio and company can do it but Paddy obviously thinks hes now bigger than the Tour!

Last person to do that was Seve and he lost. Paddy will lose too and the European Tour will continue with or without his support. Seve was also 10 times bigger and more influential than Paddy.

Finally if you wish to reduce this to petty name calling and school ground retorts, I think I can compete with the best of them! ;)

As I see it, Bjorn is trying to save some of the Dubai money for guys who compete on the European tour (which is what the 'race' is all about). What is wrong with that? If someone is excluded from the bean feast because they haven't played enough tournaments (while chasing the dollar on the other side of the atlantic), fine. Can't see why they should complain, except sheer greed.

I don't think we know the full in's & out's of this just yet, it looks petty on Padraigs behalf but i refuse to believe he is upset over playing one extra event especially as he is going to have to play some extra events over here anyway to get in the Ryder Cup team.

It's very short notice to be implementing a new rule like this as alot of the players have obligations with sponsers to play various events and perform promotions in other countries.

And if certain people think that Padraig wouldn't be a loss to the tour........ 'Scratches Head'

Give it your best shot, mate.

You are the one who is yapping on about 'being up his arse, 'spitting the dummy' etc, whilst evidently having some sort of resentment against someone you clearly know sod all about. Your childishness is all you have in place of coherent arguments. I hope you don't get too upset and have a tantrum.

Leave the debate to the grownups, there's a good boy.

Why do so many threads turn nasty at the moment? Can't we just disagree on a few things, and not get personal? Just because we don't all agree with one another doesn't mean we have to descend to bickering etc. No one knows porridge or Bjorn, so it is all based on guess work and hearsay, on both sides. Why take it personally that someone doesn't like / rate Porridge? Does it really matter?

Fed up with it all. It's like a flipping playground.

Murph

Our correspondent appears to believe he knows what Paddy's motivations, and general behaviour, are, and is happy to jump to conclusions to send Paddy off reeling under all the withering wit he can muster. He also chooses to suggest that Paddy is spoiled, greedy or petulant. All available evidence is to the contrary, so a response in language that he will understand, if any such language is possible, is appropriate. I have met Paddy, off the course, and he was a perfect gentleman. Many others will say the same. Those who can truthfully say otherwise can hold a meeting in a phone box.

I feel I have to agree with thecraw. Paddy has got to the point where he thinks he is bigger than the Tour....Bjorn is trying to protect the masses and the Tour and doing quite a good job of it....Paddy like the other bigger boys is able to and can chase the cash whereever he wants - he owes the European Tour big time for where he is today and it would be nice to see him (as big a draw as he is) play in some events where 'we' can actually watch him up close and personal....

Forget about playing more because of the Ryder Cup, he's a shoo in already based on the World points he'll accrue in America....

Thecraw---If Harrington was so up his arse as you believe he would not play in a "diddy local pro event" in Ireland. He has always support this PGA event.

How anyone can take Bjorn seriously after his rant to the press when Woosie left him out of the 2006 Ryder Cup team.
