Harrington and Bjorn handbags at dawn...

Why would Harrington be a loss? He palys about 80% of his golf on the other side of the Atlantic now anyway. We are doing quite well with some of the exciting young guns comming through, Harrington has acted like a spoiled brat.

As someone said earlier, Harrington will be replaced by another soon enough.

You dont hear Garcia crying to the press or Luke Donald, Els, Goosen etc about having to play one extra tournament on this side of the atlantic.

My opinion is you play one tour, you support it, you want to go chasing the buck then you live within the rules set down by both tours and you have to accept that is that!

Call Paddy what you like, but you are very wrong if you think he is a spoiled brat. If any golfer epitomises the down to earth guy who works hard and takes nothing for granted, it is Paddy.

He was living within the rules, but the Euro Tour has decided to change those rules to force him to make a decision. He sees this is aimed at him and he is responding appropriately. Bjorn is a well known whiner and under achiever, unlike Paddy.

And just who is this next European 3 time major winner? Don't hold your breath.

I think paddy has done him self a favour, any publicity is good publicity and all that.

He would be a major loss to the tour, he's one of only about 6 players I enjoy watching.

The guy is a work horse and is the role model every young golfer should look to replicate.

oh he'd be a loss, as much as Sergio or Hansen, not as much as Mig' though.

but this really is a dollies out the pram affair. I don't think, on what's reported, he shows up well at all.

It will be his wife's idea she does everything for him ,she said he'd never seen a credit card bill in years ,accountants the pair of them always chasing the money. Great player ,nice guy but good riddance ,the tour is bigger than him i'm afraid.

Well you just answered my question in your response! He thinks its aimed at him! Thats how up his own backside he is then! Goosen, Els, Sergio, are they spitting the dummy???

Next 3 time major winner, cross the border and look at a young may by the name of Rory.

Don't really understand the last post, why have a go at what he HAS played in?? Same as the rest of the major players really give or take the odd tourney, the ones all the top top maen play in are a)the cash events b)ones that fit in with sponsor and c)fit in with schedules...they all do it so why dont you thank Poulter,Casey,Garcia etc all for coming also?? :D

this is why the forum is great. everybody having there say, different angles being thrown in. all about a sport we play, watch and most importantly enjoy.

Because I ddn't hear them moaning about having to play in Europe.......fair play to rest of the Ryder Cup team.....

Whats with the Harrington bashing. Casey, Poulter, Rose, Sergio have as much an interest in this issue as Harrington, but they are keeping quiet until the matter is resolved.

This "rule" proposed by Bjorn is designed to restrict the work arrangements of a self employed golfer.

Question====How would all the self employed on this forum take to being told they can only work within a 10 mile radius of their home?

Totally irrelevent question rgs....to play on the tour you have to be a member and to be a member you must fulfil a minimum amount of appearances and that is what is going to chance to 1 more than it is at the moment.

Look mate, I didn't chat to Paddy about this, so I don't know what he thinks, but it is reasonable to assume the rule isn't aimed at some of the others. Paddy is a big draw, and right now, the other European golfers mentioned are not even close. Rory has also talked about taking his PGA card in the next couple of years, so the exact same issue may apply to him too.

You obviously have some issue with him which is colouring your view, but if you don't think he would be a loss to European golf, then I have to wonder whether you really know what you are talking about at all. He is not up his own backside, but you may be.

Dodger not irrelevent==golfers are self employed, rules cannot restrict your ability to work or earn a living--Bosman case whilst different lay down the law on restriction of trade especially relating to footballlers.

Harringtpn accepts the current requirement but my understanding is that Bjorn wants players to play 1 extra event on the european tour but a player must play 4 events in europe--so european tour events in asia dont count according to Bjorn--he cant have it both ways===its either the european tour or its not.

It is as they are not restricting....one more is not one less.If he doesn't like it then he can bugger off to Yanky land and kiss goodbye to Ryder Cup....they'll love him over there full time,99% of Yanks are Irish aint they?! ;)

With ref to Ethans reply.....Oh dear I feel a lock coming on!! :D
