Happiest Place in Britain to Live

I spent a very happy 5 years just down the road from Farnham at Puttenham. Kids were toddlers with lots of friends.
Lovely wee village where rich and poor seemed to rub along very well.
I was on the garden club and school PTA along with a couple of millionaires, a top 100 company chairman and the dust cart driver.

I can't believe the south east has any towns in there. There's some nice places to look at but its as crowded has a Bangkok street market. The traffic is horrendous. Maybe the southerners have more time to read and vote in this rubbish whilst the northern powerhouse is out there making money for the UK.

Wow, 6th for my town! i must start being grumpier. I cant believe it if i'm honest, most people look like frickin miserable door knobs. Lucky they didn't ask me to vote!

I've just read the full list and seen that Macclesfield is in there. Crazyface lives there, we need his take on this :D. Unless it's changed I'm not sure the near constant rain and being cut off in winter by snow would make me happy :ROFLMAO:

I am Leigh-on-Sea born and bred.
We have grammar schools, low crime, proximity to London, good sailing, a nice Broadway (almost no multiples), marsh land, wood land, the seafront, low rainfall.
Need I go on?
Oh, the local golf course (council pay and play) is falling into rack and ruin. I believe it will revert to a 9 hole course in the next 10 years.
Oh well - can't have everything!

Nothing wrong with Leigh, great place to live. I have an old pal who lives there and when we visit we always have a nice night out. Old Leigh is particularly nice, cockle sheds, nice pubs and restaurants, a little beach and no arcades!

Thinking I may have rumbled why folks who live here think Farnham is a 'happy place' - could it be that is cos so many couples are now separated or divorced...no idea of the actual stats but there is loads of it about. In fact of our closest 'primary school mum and dad' friends - the majority are now separated.

My Mrs comes from near there.
Enjoyed a few pints with her Uncle Derek in the cockle sheds.
Never took to jellied eels though.

I read in my paper today that Auld Lang Syne is going out of favour with the youth of the country, though it's still very popular in Scotland. Not surprising then that most UK downloads are in Glasgow area, with the second highest in UK being...Farnham, Surrey - Que?

That great discovery today might explain the weird phenomenon of Farnham being 2nd Happiest Place in the UK...though ALS is rather reflective and not too jolly.

Either that or my cunning plan to get ALS top of the download charts and #1 for Christmas has been rumbled.

A Good New Year to all for this evening - and should auld acquaintance and a' that...and a' that and a' that...
