Hanson's double hit

If you look at it from the players point of view I think there is only one answer, the cameras have to bring the incident to the attention of the player and therefore the penalty has to be called.

If the incident is not reported to the player but can be seen on the pictures there will always be a doubt over if the player was aware of it or not, their integrity would be questioned and that would not be good for them or the game. You only have to look at the reaction to the Henry incident in the Ireland World Cup playoff to see what happens when TV sees something about which no action is taken.

The situation with Davis was different as it was with Wie.
The camera was used to check not to instigate.
imo the camera should be the silent witness - there to be used, not to interfere.

As long as cameras are there filming then the two can't be seperated, whether it was witnessed by a camera or some sharp eyed spectator/ playing partner that info is now "out there" and has to be acted upon.

Really unfortunate situation for Hanson but brilliantly handled by everyone I thought. Not sure of the details but could you imagine how Paramor felt having to approach him to give him the news?? When is the right/ best time to slip that little nugget in??!!

I still find it hard to condone unless every players shot is filmed, that cannot happen therefore the PGA should make the ruling that the camera's should not be used for rule decisions. Earlier in the week, I think it was Soren Hanson who lost a ball in the deep rough, the camera clearly saw where the ball entered but didn't interfere by telling the player where to look for it. I cannot see the difference if you are using the camera for negative issues then it should be used in a positive way also.
