Hankley Common

Did he say/mean that ?

Lovely course, but for me there is more to joining a Club than just the course. Touch of the Broadstone's ?

I did, but I've changed my mind.....I'd join Blackmoor, drag your good name through the mud by association and knock you off your Mixed Winter Greensomes (major my arse) perch

Nick, that's one up from a midweek stableford isn't it? :D

It was not mixed or greensomes. You just had to over egg it didn't you.:ears:

Probably stems from the fact I've always been a social golfer and not a membership golfer

Out of interest what do you mean by that statement? You impy being a member and being social golfer are mutually exclusive. I'm guessing you mean being a member of a specific club on the grounds of kudos it gives you (or you might think it gives you) is not your cup of tea - mine neither. That's why I joined Farnham Sands :)

Partly, yes. I would never join a club purely to say that "I am a member of xxxx". The fact that I haven't been a member of club since 1986 (Guildford) says to me either I haven't found a golf club I really want to join, or more likely, I don't have enough time in my calendar to warrant joining a club!

I also mean by that statement is that I feel I am not influenced by the reputation associated with a club, or being protective about its image as I have money tied into that club.
