I seem to remember printing off an official handicap certificate a few months ago but can't remember where from...

It was either HowdidIdo, the EGU website or my own clubs website but a search of all three has drawn a blank.
Has anybody else done this, and if so, where do you do it from????

Thanks
Rob

we have our h/cap certificates in the back of the club handbook/diary, updated as and when you need to.

we were also given our EGU numbers for the centralised database but I have no idea how to use it.

we are able to print out our handicaps using the GUI Golfnet website. Quite handy as it can be done from anywhere should you already be away from your home course when you need one without initially realising it.

This should be ok for you

:D :D :D

The only 2 courses I've played that asked for one were Royal Dornoch and the Old Course, St Andrews. Everyone else seems to leave it to trust, unless you're playing in an away Open.

Smiffy, I can print one directly from H.D.I.D, but I think it depends on your club having the option turned on in the software. It's quite convoluted.
Here's how I did it.

Log into your home club on HDID

On the left hand menu click on START SHEETS

You should be taken to the personalised " MY GOLF " page where you should click the " MY HANDICAP " button on the menu.

Then click on " CERTIFICATE " which should take you to a page allowing you to print your certificate.

Hope this helps.

Iain that's brilliant mate. Done it. Thanks a lot for that, I knew I'd found it before but could not for the life of me remember where.
Thanks again.

Why would you want one?
Have I missed something?

I'm playing in a couple of competitions at other courses over the next month or so that require certificates to be shown prior to play.
;) ;)

An honest question, how many of these certificates that are shown at these events do you think are genuine? Do you think some players tap up their secretary to add the odd shot on or are they cross referenced back to HDID or similar

Well mine is, so at least I'll be able to sleep at nights.. ;) ;)

Fully aware that these type of events bring the pot hunters out of the woodwork, but there's nothing you can do about it unfortunately. I've been "stiffed" before in a knockout competition where a 14 handicapper played like God and admitted afterwards that his society handicap was about 7. Left a bit of a nasty taste in the mouth to be done over like that. The only consolation I had was hearing he met an even bigger bandit in the semi-finals and got done out of a trip to Spain for the finals, which he was banking on winning. He had even mentioned on the way round that he'd had to renew his passport for the trip!
That was a good few years ago now, but I bet he's still around the Gillingham area playing off 14 somewhere and cleaning up.
