Hamilton to Mercedes...discuss

I think you will see Mercedes shine in 2014 with a new car. This move is not for next year and I will be collecting from William Hill in November 2014. He is getting the move in early. Wait and Watch this space. This is a well planned move.

Money talks. Nothing really to discuss. Fraudulent sport anyway.

Personally I think it's a good move for him as McLaren really look like they are faltering and the mechanics and car have cost Lewis massively this season. What do you think?

I think moving from a team that wins races every year to one that has achieved 1 win in 3 years is not the behaviour of someone who's only interest in winning world championships.

Hamilton has been headed down the celebrity lifestyle path for some time now and this is just another part of it. He will make a lot of money, but he won't win another title in the foreseeable future IMO.

p.s McLaren have won more grand prix than any other team this season. They have the fastest car. The odd failure is just part of F1.

After some early season wobbles they also now have the best pit stop times in the entire paddock and haven't made a pit stop error since the summer.

Lewis may have fancied a change aswell as the £££, but McLaren are way way way ahead of Mercedes at the moment.

I agree with anotherdouble that 2014 will be the big year for Mercedes but even next year I think they'll have a better car than McLaren. McLaren are still concentrating on this season whereas Mercedes are already planning for 2013. I don't think its a money move I don't think Hamilton has ever liked losing a grand prix and isn't the sort of person that would move for 'celebrity' reasons.

Starting next season McLaren have to start paying for their engines for the first time which will affect their R&D budget. And in terms of recent performances Schumacher is past his sell by date and Rosberg isn't as good a driver as Hamilton, Vettel or Alonso so do we really know how good the current Mercedes car is? I'm also really interested to see how Perez performs against Button next year in the McLaren

The man is a total t**t,his list of excuse's and tantrums far outweigh his talents.F1's version of Tiger, although without as much talent, and far less gracious in defeat. His title win had as much to do with Alonso's poor treatment,as it had to do with Hamiltons driving imo.

F1 is dictated by electronics, being a good driver means hehaw now.

F1 died with Ayrton, he wanted it to be man v's man. Never gonna happen.

I think it is a good move for him. I fancy Mercedes are going to become a real force in the next two seasons. I don't think he'll be the last big name to shuffle around before the end of the season

Been lucky to meet Lewis on a couple of occassions away from the spotlight as pleasant a kid as you'd wish to meet...

As one of the quickest drivers of the current crop obvious that his management were going to seek the best paydays they possibly could for him... Ron Dennis see's drivers as commodities that come and go... His business and its investors come first every time...

Can Brawn provide a winning car for Lewis? Almost certainly... As a new team on the block they already have one world championship under their belt...

Will Sergio do well at McClaren? Don't think they'd have signed him without having some faith in his ability and only time will tell...

As a total aside Crutch on the front row and a good qually for Johnny Rea also... MotoGP looking good for tomorrow...

Key trick with F1 will be engines. From 2014 Mclaren will have customer engines, ie the previous years model, so how quick will they be then? Mercedes will have the real deal. Probably not a bad move, and loads and loads of cash too.

Not true. Senna went to Williams as he felt their cars had an advantage with all of the electronics, suspension etc. He was pissed right off when they were all outlawed after he had signed for them.
Not denying he was a great driver, probably the best that ever lived.
But he wouldn't have turned down all of the electronic aids going to win the championship.
Hamilton going to Mercedes is a great move. We'll see how those cars can perform now. He is a great driver, a proper "racer".
And it's going to be interesting watching Perez perform at McLaren. If that guy doesn't win a world championship in a few years time, I'll eat my hat.
2013 is going to be a great F1 season.
