Played today to get last of my three cards to get my Hcap .. first two have been 86 0n par 69 and 2nd 99 at Forest of Arden so thought I would play today and scored 117 on a par 72... and had a mare hit 8 balls in water 3 on one hole, so do I submit that card with 4 9's on it or do I play again and submit that one .... for the first time I actually wanted to give up after 7 holes .. but carried on as I thought it would get better .. it didn't... What do I do next take a break for a week or so or straight back on the horse !

Don't worry about it, submit it and then you've got the three in. I take it your 117 wasn't adjusted? i.e. that anything worse than a double was adjusted down to that. Your handicap will eventually find its correct level from your Initial Handicap Allocation.

Dont worry about it. I walked off after 12 yesterday, first time I've walked off in years. Topped one 20 yards at the first, same at 3rd,duck hooked 3 drives, thinned almost every iron shot 5 yards off the ground and at the 12th tee topped one 10 yards and lost it! And I'm off 5 apparently. Can't rememember a round like it, seemed to be unable to hit the ball. 2 plusses though

1. Putting was excellent
2. I didn't cry

and that folks is the important bit :D

I can sympatise, I went through similar on Saturday on my second card.

First hole, tee-shot hooked OOB. So 3 off the tee straight into the greenside bunker. Got up to the bunker to find it in someone else's heelprint, fluffed my first attempt and then thinned the second attempt through the green. Chipped down to 10 feet and 2 putted. A fat lady on the card to start with - on a par 3.

Second hole, carved my drive OOB again. 3 off the tee up to the fairway bunker on the left... hooked my next shot, OOB again. Played my sixth just short, thinned my chip to the back of the green, 3 putted.

Got my head together a wee bit after and had a wee run of semi-decent form, all bogies, but playing better than i had been. On the 6th I carved another drive left, but it stayed in bounds and ended up in the middle of a bush. Took an unplayable and a penalty shot; sclaffed my next shot 60 yards and then flushed my next right into the burn at the front of the green. Chip and a 2-putt to follow.

Then par, bogey on the next two holes were followed by a lost ball, and a failure to get out of a bunker all rounded off with a 3-putt for a disastrous outward 9 holes of 58.

Played the inward nine in 42 though, so I know I put in a score, but it wasn't one of my better days on the course. My two cards are for 98 and 100, both of Par/SSS 70.

Final card goes in next Wednesday in the medal. Hoping it all comes together then.

For you, I'd say to forget about the round; you had a bad one - everyone does. Get your handicap sorted and then enjoy the challenge of getting it down. I had hoped not to go in at 28 for my first number, but if that's what I get, that's what I get. I know in myself I'm not a 28-handicapper, and it'll soon work itself down to its proper level.

It happens to us all.
At Bearwood I parred the first 3, nett par at the next and then barely scored a point until the 16th.....
Out today - it will be better

I hope

You've lost me here. It reads as if you are submitting 3 cards, all played on different courses.
