Par four, second shot just drops into the green side bunker, simple shot out on to the green I thought, took two putts to get down to score fourteen, flipping ball came out of the bunker 6 times and rolled back in, the other four shots was just complete frustration. I heard the music playing in my head and my partner asked me if I wanted a cigar. Thankfully he was the only witness.

Good you kept trying and didn't opt to play out backwards like all the wimpy pros I watched at St Andrews Open Road Hole bunker did.........even if there is a lesson in these somehwere for you!:smirk:
You deserve a cigar for sheer bloody-mindedness!

Had the same issue recently at our par 3 17th. In the trap off the tee. Thinned one OB dropped and playing 4. Hit that into the bunker on the other side of the green. Back into the original bunker. Back to the other one - AGAIN. Hit my 8th back to my original starting point in the first bunker. Mist had descended and the mind was gone. Bobbled it out to the fringe. Didn't trust myself to be in any state to chip so putted. Two more putts for a finely constructed 12

perhaps a lesson on bunker play?? but congrats on sticky with it of that happened to me by the third time i would have been so pissed i would have hit it as hard as i could and would end up 50 yards off the other side of the green
