Since I started playing again last year I always said that my aim was to get my handicap as low as I can, whether or not I win anything on the way.

It's fine saying that until you have a chance to win one of the board comps.

I played in the final of the club matchplay this morning, and I really wanted to win.

End result... I got spanked 7&6

My 11 h/c opponent played the best anyone has ever played against me. His scores for the 12 holes we played were...

Birdie

I've got no complaints as I didn't play well enough to win, but I wasn't bad enough to get beat that many.
He just had one of those days.

If you read these forums Dale, very well done :)

Well he's played well to be fair!

Don't worry about it. People have days like these and you will to. Unfortunately he had his day in the comp final. s**t happens!

If you didn't play badly then focus on any positives you can take.

Unlucky for not winning but you still got to the final!! :)

Great effort getting to the final though Region3 , looks like he handled the pressure better :D

Take the positives and use them to make your game better so that next time youre in with a chance youre ready to spank some butt yourself

Funnily enough I don't get nervous playing anything for myself. I've played in the final of a national comp in a team and was absolutely cacking myself, but individual things don't get to me at all.

Plenty of positives to take. I'm still trying to change my swing a bit and it feels like it's almost there now and I hit some good shots.

I think I'm going to peak on Thursday :D
