Is it your time of the month Bob? :D
I haven't even started
Don't get me started, just don't and it WAS a wedge from 130 yds.
Turns off the laptop and goes for a lie down in a dark and quiet room.
I do have an excuse however, but it's about the V word and I'm not allowed to mention it.
Appy Tuesday :D

I can't, i'm seriously bored!

I keep refreshing the main index page in the hope that someone has posted something controversial that I can get stuck into.

I've scoured all my usual favourites and now have absolutely nada to do for the rest of the day.

If my boss wasn't here i'd do one to the range for a couple of hours, but he is, so i cant :(

My eyesight is 20-20, I can even see around corners.
The problem is I don't know what a Boro or a Leeds avatar looks like.
Who are Boro? :D

I know Southgate has a major problem especially after losing to Stoke 1-0 and 19th place is dodgy with only 8 games left. it's a shame after they defended so well, they just didn't take their chances.
I don't have a clue what I just wrote :D

My job makes me hypersensitive to poor spelling and grammar, not that mine is perfect as is evident from the frequent typo's, which I attribute to dyslexic fingers.

I really get irritated by poor spelling in advertisements, such as those that offer colanders for reckoning the date.

The keyboard does make you lazy and some phrases do lend themselves to abbreviation, imo.

I would say that the majority of my posts are mostly correct in terms of the application of the established English language. However I am in no way error proof, and will always make slip ups when casually typing on the forum; as will others. This is not necessarily due to an inability to spell but perhaps as a result of fatigue after a long day at work etc. I really wouldn't worry too much as apart from anything else typo's probably contribute more to my misspelt words / incorrect punctuation inclusion than anything else.

Also as ignorant as it may seem, why is spelling even important- provided it is accurate to a degree in which it is actually interpretable? In an important document or publication yes it is necessary, so as to avoid giving the impression that an uneducated monkey wrote it. But on a forum I think we can avoid highlighting people's errors and just read the post for the way it is meant: not the way it is spelt or actually written.

I'm going to guess that there is an error or two in the above also, as I am mentally knackered after a long day, and can not be bothered to proof read it. Like I say though, it is not going to be bad enough that you can't receive and interpret the actual message!

Happy spelling.

At least most posts avoid text speak, which is deliberate poor spelling and is definately worse than the genuine mistake.

Sadly grammar is no longer taught in schools, as far as I can tell.

The most common spelling mistake seems to be 'definately' instead od 'definitely.' It seems to be spelt that way every time it is written on this site. Not just you Murph.

Bob,

The curse of the pedant is eternal vigilance. At least it is for me. I spotted 4 errors with apostrophes in a presentation I was at today. I just can't help it, they leap out at me. I felt guilty about a post I made a few minutes ago (you'll find it in the lounge, made before I read this thread!) but there are limits. I hated latin at school, but since adulthood have been grateful for what it taught me. I know it's an emotive topic, but hey, I'm human and I care about it!

I with Grumpy on this.

Got to admit that in trying to get across what I'm trying to say, I'll often mis-type a word or hit the key next to the one I meant to hit. My desktop keyboard also has so much crud in it, some keys don't seem to work very well!

Some mis-spelt words I can cope with, but text or youth speak I cannot deal with. I can't wait to see what the next generation of journolists produce!
