Stableford is good as it gives you 18 chances, a lot of golfers who play medals and have a couple of bad holes lose interest and give up trying. A Stableford prevents that.
Who cares what you score, just enjoy it. We had someone who shot 9 points yesterday and he enjoyed it. There was someone who got 2 points at west hill and no one commented about the score just about how that golfer enjoyed himself. We all start somewhere so go out enjoy it. If you are last then so be it. You will get a real feeling off satisfaction when you get into the top 10 then top 5 then top 3!Now, I've done two stableford comps and have nr'd both as I didn't want everyone who is a member of the club to see my low points score. Don't care about gross though as that has come down on each one I've done. Perhaps I'm just odd lols
Stableford is great in my opinion, however some people take it as gospel for handicap rating. I think handicaps are best arrived at and adjusted off medal rounds, with general play rule 23 used for keeping stableford/match play bandits in check. After all realistically someone could shoot 36+ points and have 2 or three treble, quadruple or worse bogies in that round which would never be good in my opinion as a good round is about 18 consistent holes no matter what handicap you're off.

I always say my net score as how many would know my handicap if I said gross 79 in a medal ?
Sounds like a bit of showing off to me, favoured by low handicappers.:ears:I wouldn't care what your h/cap was... it would show that you could play a bit :ears:
74 would be better though

It was a stableford so I would expect you to tell me your stableford score. Oh wait you did.Not really. If I told you I shot a net 69 at H4H do you now know my h/cap?
One sounds better than the other that's for sure, but either way you don't know what my h/cap is unless you ask.
Judging by the way you play at Blackmoor, 17 ?Not really. If I told you I shot a net 69 at H4H do you now know my h/cap?
