Off the back of the club face cleaning thread - just wondering how many of your sharpen your grooves / How often and has it made a difference to your shots?

This crops up every now and then.

Getting the grooves reworked by a professional club repairer might make them like new again, and keep them legal. Doing it your self with a groove sharpener will make them non conforming, so it's like cheating.

Not sure why people like razor sharp grooves anyway. They just chew the ball to bits, and zip it back off the green. Looks cool, but is pretty useless.

The problem is returning the grooves to their original state is virtually impossible to achieve. You'll almost certainly make the grooves wider or deeper than legal.

Ok, it would be tricky to tell and you'd most likely get away with it but that's not the point

I know I have made a couple of changes to my swing and now getting a lot of backspin thinking of changing wedges to the new size ones.

It's cheating and even though you'll never get found out it simply isn't the done thing. Either get them done professionally or buy a new wedge. I like the TM idea of selling new faces for their wedges but the fact that the club itself looks like a year 5 meccano project puts me off
