GPS's ? Helpful or not?

Ok, that's fair enough, I've not tried the SkyCaddie one to know it was any different. In fairness though, the courses I play are not wildly altering their lay-out that much.
Totally agree, I use the Motocaddy app at my own course as I know it, but if playing away I use my SkyCaddie.

Skycaddie will also make simple adjustments without visiting the course.

Chesfield removed a bunker on the 5th. I dropped SkyCaddie an e-mail, they wrote back within a day and asked me to confirm a few things, they then contacted the course to confirm. The bunker was removed within about a week from the skycaddie course map.

I never used to have one just paced from the 150 to get my distances. Then got one as a free gift when I joined my old club. Just a basic watch with front middle and back distances.

Played at the weekend and forgot to bring it with me, I was completely lost. It has made such a big difference to my game. Especially as I have a tendency to not always be playing off of the correct fairway. Knowing the distances to the green is such a massive help.

Used mine today for the first round ! Season best of 91 !
Made a massive difference with club selection so i am extremely happy and feel like i got an absolute bargain

Evening,

What are peoples thoughts on golf GOS watches or standalone GPS's? I like the idea of having something that gives me a more accurate idea of distance rather than judging myself? Im going on the idea it might bring a little more consistency in club selection and shot choice etc....
Who uses one and what are your opinions? Useful or gimmick?

erm....

Don't use any measuring device other than my eyes and on-course distance markers - that is not to say I wouldn't sometimes benefit from using something techno-gizmo
