GPS

Well my Garmin G3 arrived this lunchtime.

Only had a play in preview mode as I'm in the office (and its chucking it down outside) but it looks like a great bit of kit.

I had originally parked the idea of getting one as my course wasnt shown as being mapped on the Garmin web site (neither were all of the other local courses) but a friend with the Approach S1 watch version assured me it is and the preview mode picked it up straight away.

Weather permitting I'm having 13 holes after work tomorrow then have a charity day on Thursday so will post a full review after that.

My advice would be Sky Caddy based on the fact they go out and map the courses on the ground, so in my opinion offer the more accurate information. I've recently upgraded to the SGX and got it off Amazon and got the first years subscription free. Yes, you do have an annual fee after that but SC would be my preference all day long

Completely concur. I have had a SkyCaddie for years, best dam thing I ever bought. I also replaced my old model with an SGX recently - love it!!!!!!!

Garmin S3 here - front middle back, hazards, layups, score card,no fees and you don't spend a minute getting it out of your pocket because its on your wrist.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to reply. I have done further research and so far (!) Skycaddie are good but I don't see the point of paying an annual sub. Garmin Approach 6 is good as is the GolfBuddy World Platinum so it looks like a choice of these two.....................Any further thoughts?? Cheers Sprouty106

Direct Golf have the S1 watch for £129 and of you use the £20 voucher from this months' mag it is only £109 including postage and three pairs of Stubburt socks free!

How do they map the courses on the ground? Using GPS?
