GPS devices for men but NOT for women?

Uh-oh....PC brigade are upset!

If you are referring to me then, no, I am not upset. All I am saying is that If I was a new female forumer looking in I may take offence to some of the comments posted.
I know a few female golfers who would wipe the floor with most people in here during a round. I also know a few male begineers who struggle to hit it 80 yards with a driver and feel like they are being laughed at by 'better' players - was that comment aimed at them too?

Nope, the comment was aimed specifically at you.

The thread may not be in the best taste in the world, but for crying out loud its a light hearted bit of banter, and I would strongly suggest anyone that was offended by it to stay off the forums to be honest, as I would class this as mild banter at the most!

And to have a go at a mod for joining in is a bit sad too, just because said person is a mod doesnt mean he has to become a member of the fun police and not have a laugh.

I can see why you posted what you did, but I honestly think you shouldnt have bothered fella!

You're right. What on earth was I thinking? Expressing an opinion on a forum.....I'll certainly think twice in future, especially now that you have told me to.

Did you see the post from Teegirl? She took exception to all women golfers being tarred with the same brush. So the content of this post has ofended at least one person......but its ok cos its banter.

And as for mods being members of the 'fun' police...then yes, I'm afraid that it is their responsibility to moderate.

If this is acceptable then I'll keep a look out for the feature in the next Golf Monthly mag; Women golfers are rubbish because......

Women golfers are rubbish because......

......they find it hard to keep hold of clubs with their marigolds on? :D :D

Sorry!

Look, i'm not after a fight, and to a certain extent I agree with what you've said, but I also see this thread for what it is, a joke and a bit of light hearted banter. Its the way of the world.

Yes there are a lot of women in golf, but golf is still predominantly a man's game and you cannot deny this fact, you are always going to get mild sexism wherever you go in any walk of life and on any (and probably every) internet forum.

Whilst I undederstand both points of view on this (fence firmly wedged!). Believe me. When groups of women converse together, they can be just as sexist. The advantage of taking my son to gymtots, nursery etc, is that I get to see / hear this.

If this was a predomimately female forum, I'm sure that us guys would come in for a bit of ribbing occasionally.

very nice Keef - are they yours? (now thats banter!).

Incidentally, one of my playing partners once told me....in all seriousness.....that Marigolds are the best things to wear when playing golf in the rain. Never seen him wear any though....

s far as im aware GPS is a local rule and its not allowed at Bellshill. I played a boke in a team match who had his attached to his powakcaddy...our secretary had told him he wasnt allowed to use it but he did anyway! I was 2 down after two till he got caught!! I won 5 and 3! Get it up ye!!

Surely if this local rule were to be applied, then it would cover all categories?

Thats because, unless they can steel them from HID without her knowledge, collecting a pair or two from the local sexshop is too much for some golfers. :o

I think this thread is inappropriate.....as there is a likelyhood that the ladies would get frustrated trying to talk into it and send text messages, i hope you all see sense.

Oh dear. Call me a killjoy if you must, but I'm sorry but if "light hearted banter" means taking a stereotypical pop at anyone - be it women golfers - or women generally, or the irish, or muslims, or black people or germans or...

I just feel sorry for anyone who can't do better than stereotyping.
