Got fitted as I was due to be as wanted some new irons as my blades were hurting my game.

Hit the ball like a tool having been maimed recently but it came back enough towards the end.

Striking it nicely in the end.

Anyhow, I am awaiting delivery of an ex-demo set of Titleist 735CM irons as there is a set of these in my spec (S3's, 1* Upright) lurking somewhere that are on their way.

Have gone for 3-9 Irons and am going to take a 48* vokey as a PW and ditch the 735 PW in the cupboard.

Demo'd many clubs including AP1/2, Mizzy MP52/MX200, Ping i10, Cally X22 and TM Burner Plus.

Hit the 735's best and loved the bladed short irons which I was hitting very nice and accurately.

Cant wait to christen them!

Good stuff fella, cant wait to see them at Lydd. Sounds like you've been hitting some balls recently, HOMER! We need to put some practise in.

I have also had a bit of a spend today, got myself a GoKart and sexy new Mizuno cart bag.

Want to use the spin-milled vokey in 48/6 as it will give me more stop and also has less bounce.

Will still keep the standard PW and that will come into play on soft greens.

Just what I was advised.

BTW they werent trying to sell me an extra vokey as I already have one lined up.

Nice new shineys Jon. Hope you get on with them OK.
The two clubs in my MX200's that I absolutley love are the 50 and 55 degree wedges. I won't be swapping those out for another brand. I've got on with them from day one.

I recently got rid of my 735CM's. They are indeed things of beauty but I decided after some consideration that I would start this year with a set of easy to hit cavity backs with graphite shafts.

A Titleist cavity isn't really a cavity at all is it? :D

Despite my 5 handicap I just had one too many range sessions where I thought 'what the hell am I doing trying to hit these' as another weedy low 5 iron went 140 yards. Penny dropped when I tested a Callaway x20 graphite shafted 6 iron at the range - it effortlessly soared off into the distance. The seed was sown there and then that 'players irons' aren't for me any more, I just dont play and practice enough to justify them.

Got a set of Nike Slingshot 4d's for a good price and I have to say I am enjoying hitting these far better than the Titleists. The stiff flex in the graphite is good as it offers control but at a nice light weight.
They go higher, they go further and they are easier to swing as they're lighter. The sweetspot is also huge which I am enjoying. Played Sat and Sun and hit them great, short game let me down but rusty on that front this time of year.

The shaping shots adage that is always rolled out when discussing forged irons is just not relevant enough for me. I can still move the ball around enough with the cavity backs but as Jon says there are too many weak shots with the heavy Titleist clubs. :D

I have also got rid of my Scotty Red X2 putter as the sweet spot on it is about the size of a pinhead which I can't repeatedly find. I have owned 4 Scotty Camerons now and I cant get on with any of them. Going back to an Odyssey 2 ball and am shortening it right down and sticking a 2 thumb grip on it and employing a wide well-anchored Harrington style stance to try to get a perfect pendulum stroke going.

Much experimentation going on currently but determined to lower scores by whatever means possible!

I am embracing technology for the simple reason that I want to lower scores, not look like a pro.
There, I feel better now. :D

Also a new driver birdieman?

I did notice the massive change in your bag. You going back to more forgiving clubs is nothing new. Loads of pros and good amateurs are doing the same.

Panic not by golfing partner. Came 2nd by a point in the stableford on Sunday and still managed to keep my 14 handicap. Would have won it if I hadn't carved one OB at 18 and hacked up 17. My game is steady and plenty of time for improvement. A putting lesson on the 18th will sort everything out nicely.

That's what I like to hear Homer, got myself a GoKart and sexy Cart Bag today so I will be fresh for the full 18 holes on both the 24th + 25th.

That sounds just like me last Friday Hommer, Hacking up 17 and smashing OB on 18, ruined my card good and proper.

Sounds like some nice new sticks Medway, I still cant decide on my new ones????

If it helps your decision, my will broke and I now have a set of Cobra SZ. So far they have lived up to me expectations, especially with the short irons and wedges, pulled off some great shots on Sunday. 2 Comps over Easter to see how they bed in.
