Google Pay

I currently use Samsung Pay on my android phone. Works fine for contactless payments when I am out and about. I'm starting to see a few websites offering acceptance of Google Pay. I'm guessing it is the same as Samsung Pay when out and about but has the added advantage of offering a little more in terms of payments online. Am I understanding it correctly?

Anyone using it? Quite happy?

Yep. Using Google pay on my Huawei and perfectly happy with it.

It's the same as Samsung pay was.

I tried using Samsung pay but my Yorkshire Bank account wasn't compatible apparently so I've been using Google Pay for about a year now with no problems. I've not noticed it on websites, I only really use it in the shop or pubs etc.
One minor gripe, it forced me to set up a password to unlock my phone which I never usually did.

I am someone who likes knowing what the mobile bill is going to be and its why I use cards. My son and daughter use it all the time one's on Android and the other on Apple.

This is using your card. The phone has a virtual wallet which your card details are loaded onto. You then choose the card and scan. It doesn't use the "credit" stored within a card.

There is a much greater security with phone payment than regular contactless payment. It's great. Hardly ever carry a wallet now.

It's safer than contactless as it needs a pin or print to activate the tap . Where as the cards just work

Apple Pay with its payment limit means I have pretty much done away with my wallet, I’ve got £20 in there from March last year that I still haven’t spent.

My lack of cash use meant when I had my wallet pickpocket few years ago I lost £20 , bank card, credit card, and my driving licence

All frozen within 5 mins (on the app)

All replaced within a week ..only loss was the cash

I wandered into Tesco at the weekend to do the weekly shop then realised I didn't have my wallet.
I assumed I'd have to reckon up the total as I went around to avoid going over the contactless limit. Turned out the Apple Pay limit at Tesco is £250 and I could get a scanner using my Clubcard app.
I've only been carrying a wallet for the last couple of years to do the Tesco shop - now I don't even need it for that.

Love my computers, learned to program (IBM 370) in 1971, got my first PC in 1985, my first laptop (a Toshiba) in 1988 and my first Mac (a laptop) in 1994.

Love my mobile phones, got my first one (a Panasonic) in 1993, currently using a Lenovo/Moto Android mobile. I turn off the location feature if I'm not using it, I turn off the WiFi if I'm not using it, and I turn off data if I'm not using it.

IOW, I've been using this stuff long enough to know how much I'm willing to trust this stuff.

Google/Apple/Samsung payment systems are not as safe as chip & PIN, although the respective companies would really like you to believe it is.

I find Google Pay excellent. If you are ina shop you need to log in, usually by face recognition, so that is a secure feature. Additionally when iin a Supermarket and the amount is over £45 it works on a contactless basi which is a bonus. Highly recommended
