Just back in from my first round of the season and first round at my new club and as usual with scottish weather, we had 4 seasons in 1 day!

Started off the round with it being dull and overcast with a bit blustry wind, withing 3 holes the sun had broke through and then 3 holes later it was snowing/hail!?! Took shelter in the clubhouse before starting the 7th (shower was over within 10 minutes) and then it was sunny but a tad windy for the rest of the round.

My round was up and down, took me a couple holes to settle but once I got into my Iron play was brilliant, delighted with my new Nike MachSpeed Irons! Putting needs worked on and so does my driving which I always knew, on the back 9 tried my 5w off the tea and was hitting 200-230 on average and was straight which is good to know, means I have something to use off the tee while trying to find the right driver for me.

Ended up hitting a 101 but my card ended up with: 9, 8, 7, 7, 7, and a few 6s on there.
The 7+'s were due to wild tee shots lost, wish I had just taken my 5w out the bag earlier and I could have posted a decent score!

Overall, delighted to be back golfing, the new club is a great course and clubhouse is immaculate (watched some of the football before and after the round), my Iron play is really good considering a gap of about 8months since I last played, just need to get used to my short chipping around the green. Shall be working on my Tee shots and putting over the next few weeks!

I wondered how you'd get on. I live just five minutes down the road from Swanston and thought about you playing when the snow and hail came on!! Well done though mate - onward and upward! :D

East lothian was the place to be today
overcast then sun, one tiny bit of rain and a minute of hailstones
and not a drop of wind!:)

@DelB - good to know you were thinking of me ;)

I'm expecting to have a starting handicap of around 22-25 just as long as I can get my putting down to 2 puts.
A handicap of around 18 is achievable if I play and practice often enough

I joined Swanston when I took up the game four years ago and it's a good crowd there. Would be good to have a game there again............. ;)

Sunny Lanarkshire was eh sunny but fecking baltic man. Took my son to the practice area today and at almost 17 he fancies joining our club, good on him, in 2 years time he'd need to join as an ordinary member with a joining fee and full green fee, join now and he'll have a reduced green fee till he's 25.

Looks like I have a playing partner anytime I need it
