Apple pretty much price fix, even staff don't get you much discount.

I can get you 10% off one at comet, if that's any good?

As a wi-fi user, I was interested to discover that the £429 model is only $499 in the US. At today's rates, that's a £100 premium to buy it in the UK. Not great.

Remember that sales tax is not included in that $499, but 17.5% VAT is included in the £429. If you look at pre-tax prices, the difference is much smaller and varies with exchange rates.

If you are in the US, though, the iPads sold there are unlocked and a UK micro-SIM will drop straight in (to the 3G version, obviously).

I never knew that. Not so much difference then. :)

I was lucky that a friend brought me a 32gb/3G version back from Vegas, which worked out at just over £500, which saved me about £90, but don't risk it by post as you'll definitely get stung by customs.

Sorry that doesn't help I know, maybe that 10% off @ Comet would be a good deal tbh ?

Good for you. I was rather anti the ipad, but I'm beginning to see the sense. How do you find typing? better than the ipod touch for sure!

I was the same Dave, just couldn't see the point, but when I looked again, and thought just what I'd actually use a laptop for, it made perfect sense tbh.
I took it abroad a couple of time on business in Nov, and it was a dream to use, very useful indeed, and so intuitive.
Keypad is great, and the auto correct does exactly that, no probs at all.

I love it, - sure, it would perhaps be better if it took a USB and the OS let you store files etc, but hey, I can live without that.
I think you can 'unlock' them, but I haven't so far.

If it proves half as reliable as my iMac has for the last 3yrs, I,ll be a happy bunny.

I didn't see the point of the iPad myself. Would love an iPhone, but the iPad just didn't seem quite right somehow. However, had a nice play on one the other day at work and started to come round to the idea. Not ideal for what I want really, but I think I might just have to treat myself to one this weekend.
