I was reading a few twitter posts and one came in that caught my attention. It was for a portable flight simulator, intrigued I followed the link to this website http://www.playbetterstore.com/es12-portable-launch-monitor-digital-golf-assistant-25-off-instantly/ and looked at the write up.

Seems like a useful tool, a bit expensive, but if you had a practice net at home, in time you could potentially save a fortune instead of buying buckets of balls at the range.

There were a few other bits and bobs I looked at, all a bit gimmicky, especially the anti slice golf balls, the power chute seemed an interesting idea, one for home use I would think as have that attached to your driver down the range may get you a few funny looks.

I have the ES12 and use it in my net. It is a good piece of kit and surprisingly accurate. Only really useful when used with real balls though as it can only measure and provide distances for the ball you hit, so not much use with a range ball at your local range. Very good that it can measure ball speed so accurately and quickly, even in the space of a net. Got mine off eBay for just less than £200 from a guy who sells them from Antrim. Very good service, answered all questions and the unit arrived next day.

I'm a sucker for these type of toys, have been looking with intent but can't decide between the 3 bays and the skypro, and now you've thrown this into the mix! There arnt too many reviews on here. I've seen Mark Crossfields and Rick Sheils reviews on the 3 bays and while both gave it positive the numbers were all over the place. So my two main concerns are, how accurate are the numbers? (Which has kind of already been answered) and would I use it often enough to justify the price? Over to you sweep....

I have had a 3 bays for about a year now and use it still from time to time. I still like to see what changes are going on, especially like now when I'm having some lessons. Honestly though, I doubt I'd buy any of these today as the money is better spent on a few lessons and seeing ball flight and video of your swing. With an ipad it's so easy to use a free app like Ubersense and see what's really happening to your swing!

I have the 3bays and took it to my last lesson, through out the lesson my teacher kept say good swing keep that one, I've now got a swing saved that I can try to replicate on the range.

The good thing was that the swing path the 3bays showed was the same as I saw on the video playback, which means if I can replicate the swing I know I'm on the right track, however the numbers were a little awry, the flight scope said I was hitting my 5 iron around 95mph and launching out to 195 to 205yds, the 3bays said my swing speed was only 78mph and launching put to 160yds.

So there is a little bit of ambiguity going on, but I'm not that bothered about the distance, just the swing path and that part of the 3bays is very very good.

I love training aids and would love a portable launch monitor at a reasonable price, I found a flightscope on eBay which i was tempted by but it seemed to good to be true and had no software... wasn't sure about licensing so didn't go for it.

I've looked at the ES12, but I want something that shows you ball flight and spin rates etc... not going to get one of those for your general joe bloggs!

The 3Bays and Skypro look good but only really for swing analysis.
