Total shock, Never thought about it, I was asking and being asked all week who had won. Never in my wildest thoughts did I think it was ME. Total shock.

Went to Trophy night tonight and was called out, as GOLFER of the Year. This is my 3rd time winning it. 1st time was 1986, 2nd time was 2006, and now this, 2010.
It is taken from 6 best scores from 8 stroke competitions throughout the year. Trully never thought about it. But delighted about winning it again. I must be doing something right!!!!!

Many congratulations mate.

And can I say how nice it is to see someone being able to post news of a good achievement on here and get an appropriate response? On another forum I frequent, if you have a decent round, win a competition or have other similar great news, if you post it you get accused of blowing your own trumpet. Miserable bunch they are!

A forum is a place for sharing news, good and bad, and I love it when someone wins something and feels able to post the fact here.

Well done!!

Couldn't agree more. It's great to hear when forum members win something or otherwise do well (PB, hole in one, etc.).

Congratulations, winning it 3 times is a great achievment.

Cheers guys, I dont think we have a rule for keeping any trophies, if so I'd say we'd have to win it so many years in a row, not over the space of 24 yrs................

Shows a remarkable level of consistancy and I'd be very proud to win an award like that. A lot of dogs can have their day especially in one off honours board events but to be playing so close to your handicap in medal conditions so often is a real achievement

Well Done. I'd be delighted to win something like that as I would have played well all year instead of just for a couple of events over the year which is what I usually do.
What happened between 86 and 06?

I was busy winning other trophies. I didnt think I'd every win the Golfer of the Year again, never mind for the 3rd time, I've no plans to hang up the sticks yet.
