As part of a winter side bet my fourball has been seeing who can keep their golf ball the longest. After 21 rounds my ball (prov1x) is a bit knackered but is still playing perfectly, spinning on approach shots and distance off driver not affected. My scoring has actually got better as well. This may make me think about how long I use balls for. How many rounds before you decide you need a new ball? Is the choice largely aesthetic? Interested to hear your thoughts.

378 holes of golf, with the same Pro V1?????

Does it have any cover left on it? If I get 18 holes out of a Pro V its usually fit for the practice ball bag afterwards.

Cover gone in a few spots and showing Orange type colour but still doing everything it should. Would never have let it go this long if not for a bet but can't believe it still works properly.

I've used the same Bridgestone for the last 6 rounds, it's starting to look a bit 2nd hand now, still playing ok just scuffed up.

I would normally tee a new ball up for every comp.

IF I keep a ball for a full round it usually gets the opportunity to repeat the performance (except in comps where I always start with a newbie) and if it manages another round it gets retired graciously to the practice bag

Im guessing you've had it re covered loads of times and plenty of new centres? :D

like triggers brush on only fools and horses :D

Most I've had out of a premium ball is 3 rounds and it was completely knackered by then. I only used it on the last hole because I wanted to send it off in style....

Why is it if you start with a nice new ProV1 you are lucky if you still have it by the turn but take out a donnay titanium and you cannot get rid of the d@mn thing!!
