Many many years ago I finished a medal 3,2,3,3 my longest putt was about 3 feet, seems a long long time ago now, finishing with 4 pars now is an achievement !

I was once two down with five to play in the semi-final of the winter singles knockout. Finished with five threes in a row (three pars and two birdies) to win one up. I lost in the final though.

I thought you had come down a bit, I'm trending in the other direction, recently up 0.6 to 6.1 highest for a while
As an aside I see I'm the 189th lowest h'cap in the club, no wonder we can't compete for the scratch prizes anymore !
and increasingly for the net prizes either

Lowest I have been was 3.5 about last April, had a poor summer (think most people did) and was up at 6.3.I thought you had come down a bit, I'm trending in the other direction, recently up 0.6 to 6.1 highest for a while

I wasn't counting the two professionals, but yeah. Our course is only 5550 yards, so I think very low players prefer to go and play somewhere longer where they can take advantage of their long game more.

You would certainly have as good a chance as anyone. The lowest player according to IG is off 2.9, then there's two chaps at 4.3 & 4.4. Then two on 6.0. And last year's club champion, who was off 2 or 3 I think, has left the club. I finished 22nd with scores of 88 & 86.Think I’ll join and become club champion.

As Ken says we at Dunbar have always had a lot of low handicappers, probably due to it being a course that is in great condition all year round, very very rarely closed and as it's a bit out the way from Edinburgh historically lowish fees, so its always attracted good players
We currently have 30 plus h'caps and around a similar number of scratch and 1.0's
Pre whs we probably had plus h'caps in the teens and similar numbers off scratch

We have 20 players off 0.0 or better, and 6.1 is around 91st best player at the club.

Two of those are pros (-1.8 and -1.5) and one is a PMG member (PlayMoreGolf) he is -1.7
There are two more PMG members off 0.6 and 3.8
Of those eligible for the club championship, I am 7th lowest.
The 3 lowest who are eligible for the club championship are lower than 0.0
They are -1.5, -1.1 and -0.9
Over 36 holes I am, by handicap, 11 shots worse than the favourite.
But I will have a go and do my best.

We have loads between 5 and 10 but not many lower. A combination of the course being stupidly hard and whs thinking it's easy.
Great for playing opens though as we all get more shots on easier courses

When I’m having one of these ‘couldn’t hole a putt to safe myself but it’s only a friendly casual knock’ I tell myself that the good Lord only gives me me so many of 3ft and over so I don’t want to waste them…You know those rounds that pop up every so often, the ones where you putt well but hole nothing outside a yard, Had one yesterday... but on the plus side it was social golf and my schoolboy logic says that since its just happened I'll be fine for this weekends comp and the following weekend

Likewise. Got a scratch KO match on Saturday, my 7.6 up against his 1.2…but I know I can win any hole against anyone so I’ll give it a go and just do my best…which’ll be a bit tricky given I’ve not swung a club for over two weeks

Jaysus I’d be scared to go on the course and humiliate myself if just about everyone around me was pinging 250+ yd fairway woods 6 feet away from far distant flags
. Just checked and our place has two below scratch while being hcap 6 or better would see you around or within the top 50.
