Golf Things That Gladden The Heart

You know those rounds that pop up every so often, the ones where you putt well but hole nothing outside a yard, Had one yesterday... but on the plus side it was social golf and my schoolboy logic says that since its just happened I'll be fine for this weekends comp and the following weekend 🤔 😄
 
Not sure this gladdens the heart but it made me laugh.

Talking to a PP yesterday. He was telling me about when he was working in South Africa. His company sponsored a $1 million dollar pro am. One of his bosses, a big lad made loud noises that he was adamant he was playing in the comp. He plays off 24. They did the draw and lo and behold he was drawn with Ernie Els. He was absolutely ecstatic.
So on the day of the game there’s a large crowd following Ernie Els. My Pal was one of them he said Ernie was a true gentleman. Big lad who is playing off 24 is absolutely bricking it. Every shot he is stood over, he is literally shaking with nerves at all these people watching them play. On one of the holes he smacked his drive and it flew at waist height like an exoctet missile and hit a woman on the hip. She was in agony. Big lad apologised profusely. Ernie was great.
On the next hole Big lad is bricking it big style and massively sliced his drive, it hit a tv tower flew back and hit another woman. My PP said “ I was dying for him”. Another person lays on the floor having been hit. My pal said it was 18 holes of pure embarrassment.
At he end of the round all the lads who worked for this company were having a drink and Big lad who played off 24 bellows
“ Anyone ever mention todays round to me ever again I will knock them out”. There was silence. One of the lads quietly finished his drink and said “ let’s be right it won’t be the first or second time you have hit someone today”. PP said the place erupted.
 
Played at Liphook the other day, for the first time (first time, because I know I will come back someday 😉)

Far exceeded expectations. Had the course (almost) to myself, setting sun creating soft golden colours, played fairly well, and, my word those greens are so, so good
